Hi,
Would you prefer to work in the a big company or a small company? What advantages and disadvantages exist in both paths?

Re:Jobs
Hi,
I would like to work for a small company, having worked for three multinational companies in the past. Working for small companies has it advantages, since they can provide a more intimate and focused training and development plan, and also that you are more likely to receive very large pay rises compared to large companies. This is simply because in a big company you are just a number and will get the company wide inflationary pay rise, whereas in smaller companies there are less people to give pay rises too.
Hope this answers your question.

Re:Jobs
Hi,
I personally would prefer to work for a smaller company as apposed to a large company as that way you tend to get to know everybody rather than just being somebody else who worked for the company and although you will know who your manager is, you may neer meet the actual owner of the company.
I work for a small family firm, there is six of us who work in the offices then the guys who work out on site who I mainly speak to over the telephone but do occasionally see. Also because there is only 6 of us in the offices the employers are more interested in sending us on Training Courses and making the most out of us that they can. Where as a large company may only send you on 1 course in 5 years.

Re:Jobs
Hi Nic
I would have to disagree to a certain extent. The three multinationals that I have worked for have specialist human resources departments, who in tun have learning and development managers, who's sole job is to make sure that you are put on appropriate training courses. After I complete my AAT studies I am going to be put on a CIMA training contract. We have also been sent on Presentation courses, excel courses and courses where you develop different management style.
