.... and are you listed on the Members in Practice directory on this site?
I am regularly getting enquiries from business owners asking "do you know of a good bookkeeper in xyzcity". I have referred one or two the the AAT directory, but it would seem there are not many members listed on it.
I like to help where ever I can, but it would be easier if i knew where you all were.

    I'm in North Dorset. I am listed on the Members in Practice directory. (I've just checked!)

    Where are you based? Are you Self Employed? If so how have you picked up most of your work? I advertise locally and in the Yellow Pages, but most of my work has come from word of mouth.

    Hi all

    I'm in Coventry, I have just qualified and am awaiting my MAAT status to be approved and then I will apply for MIP status and so appear on the directory hopefully - when depends on how long it takes for the formalities to be done.

    I haven't been self employed for long but have picked up my clients word of mouth and through local ads. But always willing to take on more.

    I should have said - I am in North East Hampshire, close Guildford, half way between London and the South Coast.
    Most of my work comes from my website or by word of mouth. I nearly fell off my chair the other day when I had a call via my Yellow Pages listing, and newspaper adsvertising only really works if you book a long run.

    I'm based in Ashford, Kent!!!!

    I'm listed on Yell.com, but I havent had anything apart from sales calls from that, my business has came from marketing letters I've sent out. I have only been trading since end of Jan and have 3 clients already so things are going quite well.

    I'm in cheadle,cheshire. I'm waiting for MAAT too but can't afford the fees yet. Started self employment in January and only just got one client.
    I've tried the local press but it's too expensive.
    Also tried cards in post office windows but nothing came from that.
    When you sent marketing letters who did you target?

    I just went on to yell.com and searched for trades ie builders, plumbers, architects etc

    Have you tried looking down the local job pages for part time accountancy / bookeeping roles?
    Sometimes the companies advetising these jobs are prepared to take on someone who is self employed, especially if they only want someone a few hours a week.

    I am MAAT and am currently applying for MIP at present.

    This is my first reply so hope it works. I am just setting up business in staffordshire/derbyshire border area and looking for any new business in both book keeping,taxation and accounts preparation. Would love to keep in touch

    Hi there

    I am setting up in business as a Limited Liability Partnership. My partner offers mortgage and pension adice, tutoring and I am offering book-keeping and accounts preparation.

    We are based in Cardiff and hopefully when MIP is approved will be on the register. Good luck everyone in their business!
