All,
If you are thinking of CIPFA as your next choice especially the AAT Fast Track route now is the time to register with CIPFA and enrol on the CETC training for the December exams DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR EXAM RESULTS as courses may not run and it will result in disappointment this has happened to me this year.

Re:CIPFA Registration
Thanks, I agree!! There doesn't seem to be much interest in the AAT-CIPFA fast track route, or is this because some students haven't done the relevant modules? (ie. cash management and audit?)
I have had trouble as i wanted to start this february (i enquired with colleges around Xmas time), and it was really annoying for me as Liverpool nor Birmingham didn't decide until last minute that they weren't doing the course (i can understand that they were counting on numbers being high enough to make the course viable to run, but disappointing for the few that actually want to do the fast track option)......
Plus I think that the tutors probably don't think that fast track seems a good enough route to CIPFA (from AAT anyway), ie. that you won't cover the course as thoroughly as doing CIPFA right from the start - I was advised to do this by someone from Liverpool - so if the tutors aren't even backing this fast track route then it's going to be a right flop!!...
But out of principle i'm going to do AAT-CIPFA fast track exams (to get the exam exemptions that i've worked hard for and also the 200 days work experience that you can carry forward from AAT)
so hopefully there will be enough interest by the summer (preferably in Liverpool!). Maybe AAT should be promoting this route more successfully??0 -
Re:CIPFA Registration
Thanks Star79,
Are you taking both papers in June?
CIPFa advertise the Fast Track Route in every AAT Magazine but what is the point if they do not offer the courses?!
I was told no demand but no courses running equals no demand!!

Re:CIPFA Registration
Hi Em
no, haven't started fast track, i was going to do it in liverpool but they weren't running the course (not enough interest...) so hopefully i will start in september in liverpool, and failing that, birmingham. (also partly my fault as i need to complete that audit module, should've done it BEFORE my exam really... but as none of the fast track modules were running i thought 'what's the rush?'!!!..
) but i really need to study in college, i'm rubbish at home study. are you doing fast track now?
i guess it's catch 22 - AAT are advertising the fast track option for CIPFA, but there's not much interest, so the colleges don't offer it, the few that want to do it get put off and maybe do something else instead, so even less interest!!...
i was talking to people i work with who are doing CIPFA, they said most of the people on CIPFA course at Liverpool have done AAT, but are following the normal CIPFA route instead of fast track, so i can't really understand why there's such a lack of interest now in fast track, i'm guessing that most people just haven't done the audit module to be able to do fast track? I tried to gather interest for fast track by posting a plea on the forum in January, didn't work...
Em , where are you based, and where would you want to do CIPFA? Im in North Wales.
(sorry for the long posts) Anyone else with any views on AAT-CIPFA fast track??!!!

Re:CIPFA Registration
Hi Star,
I'm based in Somerset and so want to study in Bristol as this is the closest centre.
I agreed to teach myself at home for the December exam as no day release avaiable until after the Dec exams and wanted to get cracking. so I decided to teach myself paper 2 and failed the exam by just 7 marks - gutted
Thought it would be okay as the Fast Track course was scheduled to run in Bristol for the June exams and then they moved it to Birmingham and so I am going to attempt the paper again in June but teaching yourself is so hard.
As a way of moving forward am going to take the two tax papers from AAT in June and this will exempt me from the diploma tax paper if I pass.
Hopefully the Fast Track course will be running in Bristol for the December exams and I will be able to do Paper 1 and if I fail Paper 2 at least I will be taught it at last. Hoping it will be only paper 1 and then I can pick up the ADM module as well. If they do not run the fast track course in December am going to try and get all my fees back as they allow you to enrol and then they remove the teaching and I will look at another body - but I do not want to really.
I need the interaction of other students and a tutors.I went on the revision course in Birmingham and the students there had hardly touched their open learning materials and I had worked through the materials twice so it is so different working on your own.
Sorry such a long post
Take care
Em

Re:CIPFA Registration
Hi Em
brave of you to teach yourself, I wouldn't be able to do that... and yeah, after all your hard work to fail by seven marks, poor you. I wish you lots of luck for the next exams!
I am committed to CIPFA now, so I'll hope for the best that the fast track picks up all over the country! AAT people, please go for it (especially if you work in the council, NHS or even in private companies), it's a really good qualification. i was talking to people from PWC last week, and they said they look for CIPFA or ACA, and not any of the other qualifications, so that's encouraging me to qualify with CIPFA, and also to do a bit more networking (it's always 'who you know'...)
anyway, as Em said in her first posting, please please register interest with the colleges if you want to do fast track, the more the merrier!!0
