Where to do ACCA course

Hi
I'm thinking of going on to do ACCA when I have completed technician level. I was just wondering if anyone has any good advice as to where I can study this course. I've looked at FTC and BPP but not sure if this is best options. Can you do it at college or uni
Thanks

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
I did a taught course with BPP a couple of years ago and it was brilliant. A colleague did some of his CIMA papers with FTC and BPP last year and rated BPP above FTC.
It may depend on the individual centres, but if any one asked, I would recommend BPP for taught courses.

Re:Where to do ACCA course
I do ACCA papers by taught courses at BPP and they are absolutely brilliant. The tutors really know their subjects back to front and always respond to queries. The course notes that you get are really good revision aids and make you focus on the most important areas of the syllabus.

Hi
Going on from what Annette said about the course notes, these alone would make the courses worth while!
They are like condensed versions of the main text books but unfortunately attending the courses seems to be the only way of getting your hands on them!

Do you think it's a good idea doing ACCA Home Study?

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
I passed AAT in Feb but there aren't any colleges in my area that teach ACCA.
If I were to do BPP what would the cost be (approx) because I understand there are quite a few units to cover?
Any advice greatfully accepted
Cheers
Glenn

Re:Where to do ACCA course
It depends on whether you have the motivation - I know I couldn't as I need the interaction of a tutor.
It depends on the paper but a 3 day paper (most except 2.4 and 2.5) costs about £400. They can be done on day release, weekends or evenings. I have managed so far without revision courses (apart from 2.4) and they have VAT on them which makes it cheaper for my boss.

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi Annette
Motivation isn't a problem, it's the cost that I'm worried about. I'm fine working from a textbook, so long as I can ask questions once in a while (but usually the forum is enough to sort that out)
Thanks

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
Thanks for all the advice, I'll keep it all in mind when deciding wher to go.
Is it to expensive to pay for myself? Would I be off trying to get in a firm who will pay for my studies? :roll:0 -
Re:Where to do ACCA course
If it's too expensive for you depends on how much money you've got - I don't think anyone on the forum can answer that for you.
Good luck

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
I am doing moduel 2.1 - ACCA through FTC home study. I am not finding it too difficult at the moment and the home study tutors are really quick to respond to queries.
However I do miss the classroom, both fellow students and face to face tutor support( I did my AAT at college). So I think for other modules I am going to do taught courses.

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Neil H and Annett,
Please if possible could you scan your handouts and let me have a copy. I know it is asking a lot but I am not at BPP and I am sitting 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4, the 2.1 and 2.2 I am not confident about.
email is Nafisagaffar@aol.com
Thank you.

Hi
I have access to a scanner, but I'm not attending ACCA courses.0 -
Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi Nafisa,
As Annette/Neil can't send them to you I would suggest phoning BPP/FTC and paying for them via a correspondence course - that way you would get the same notes and there's no breach of copyright!!

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
Im not sure that FTC include the course notes as part of the distance learning courses, though BPP do. FTC do include them with their 'Course in a Box' product though I believe.

Re:Where to do ACCA course
There you go - you learn something every day - I thought you only got them through doing the taught courses!! How's life going for you Neil, what course and what papers are you studying at the moment?

Re:Where to do ACCA course
Hi
The stuff I received from FTC for my distance learning course included: Course book, exam kit, pocket notes and the progress tests.

Re:Where to do ACCA course
mmm breach of contract, do they really prosecute for using their handouts...
i am already at a college which I pay for, so don't see why I should pay for bpp by correspondence just to get the handouts, buying the books would be a cheaper option. But at this point I have FTC texts and bpp revision kits for 2.3 and 2.4 and handouts from college and past papers. As I already have so much material, perhaps I wont need these handouts afterall. It's already information overload as it is.
Cheers Steve, NeilH and Annette.
