Jamie Turner Appeal
Jamie Turner, a season ticket holder at Old Trafford, was attacked in Southampton on May 15th 2005 whilst on his way to attend the football match between the two teams.
Jamie attended many away matches often with his kids but on May 15th 2005 Jamie was attacked by a mob who struck him from behind with a weapon. His skull was fractured from ear to ear and he suffered a cerebral haemorrhage, which was treated at a specialist neurosurgery unit in Southampton. He is now unable to work as a result of his injuries.

A benefit match has been arranged for Jamie by fans on May 6th 2006 at AFC Telford United's ground against FC United of Manchester.

I feel extremely sorry for Jamie and hope he gets well soon (truly). I'm a football fan myself (though I'm not going to say which team I support) but it astounds me why this happens! You don't hear of violence in cricket or rugby or any other sport other than football. What is the point in beating somebody to a pulp just because of the team they support.

That's today's and tomorrow's way of life I suppose. God help us.

    Regards
    Steve

p.s. sod what anyone thinks - it's BOLTON I support!

Not trying to make light of it because it is a disgusting thing to happen but perhaps the answer is that with Rugby all the fights happen on the pitch during the match and with Cricket everyone has fallen asleep?

Exactly Steve - It is absolutely pointless and perhaps endemic of the society we live in :(

I would be greatful if you and anyone who reads this thread could forward onto any Mancheste United fans or indeed football fans in general as tbh this could unfortunately happen to anyone attending a game and i believe that it is only in us attempting to do something positive that separates us from the animals who commit such acts.

I know our senior partner is an avid MUFC fan - and to be quite honest I kind of support them because that's where I used to do my ACCA exams. I'll pass it on
