I have started my technician level course and passed my PEV exam in December, but for family reasons i have to leave the area and move where the nearest AAT centre is 60 mile away and not really convenient for evening classes

So i was wondering if any of you are studying this at home, and if so could you let me know who through and what you think of it, cos i have no idea where to start? :?

Thanks

You could do it through BPP London (stamford Street branch),who provides Home study course material. I am doing it. It's fine.

    Hi Cheryl,
I did my intermediate course at college and had to start my technician level as a home study course. I chose Premier Training and I must say although I just passed PEV and PCR it was not because of their support. It sometimes took over two weeks to get assignments back by which time I had gone on. What I miss most is the feed back from other students and that you can ask a tutor during or after class. Getting support over the phone is not the same as face to face but I suppose if that is the only choice you have to go for it. You need lots of motivation and I find it takes me twice as long to get through a topic. You are basically given a set of books and there you are. Their webpage support is not much to write home about. I do not know if BPP offers more support. All the best - it can be done but it is hard work.

    Hi Cheryl,
Not sure if you have found any distance learning provider yet but FTC - Financial Training Company offer distance learning - e-mail address is aatdistancelearning@ftckaplan.com. I am doing my technician level with them and find their text books are easier to follow.

I'm studying with Premier and find it works for me. A friend is at college and isn't getting much support. I'm lucky that I have just clicked - it's all down to personalities and respecting the process. For me, college is too restrictive, whereas homestudy gives you freedom - so long as you're able to tell the difference between well deserved breaks and skiving! Motivation is needed for either method of learning - you can't blame your tutors if that's lacking!

I study "with" Premier Training, but haven't done one assignment. I literally read the book and sit the exam. When i was doing intermediate i struggled on one point and couldn't get hold of my tutor for three weeks, they don't offer support at the times you need it, ie: at night!
