Hi

Does anybody know what the going rate is for a bookkeeper?? i am in final stages of AAT and have been asked to take over the running of local businesses books but have no idea what to charge?? :?:

    How long is a piece of string?

    There are too many variables to give an accurate reply. How much did they pay their old bookkeeper, would they be prepared to pay you the same?

    she did it herself and made a right mess of it...all last years books are wrong!!

    She may be unwilling to pay you by the hour, and that would put you under time pressures.

    Could you ask her how much she is willing to pay - pointing out to her that accountancy fees are an allowable expense.

    Hi

    You could also say this years fee is a little higher because you have got to sort out someone else's mess.

    I normally give someone a price for the regular bookkeeping and then quote an extra charge for sorting out the mess made by the previous person.

    Ask how much they paid the previous person.
