Im struggling a little with book keeping on excel. I would be very grateful if any one could tell me how they use excel for book keeping. I would be even more grateful (sounds a bit cheeky!)if any one could email me a spreadsheet. My email is

    thought i would drop you a line re this.

    I have a company whosE accounts are all on excel.

    If i remember - the elements we have are:

    CASH BOOK
    SDB
    ETB
    P&L
    BALANCE SHEET
    DEBTORS DAYS - CALCULATION SHEET RE CASH RECEIVED V O/S DEBTS -(THERE ARE CALCS IN THIS TO PRODUCE THE FIGS)

    FIXED ASSET REGISTER

    They are all linked together re shared formulas.

    Could I be a right pain and request a copy too? I use Excel for a company just for their Sales & purchases and it would be interesting to see how yours are linked up - and save me a lot of work too!

    Hi Chris

    This sounds like the answer to my problems.
    I am attempting to sort out the ultimate in "incomplete records" - new business, lots of info missing, and a deadline to get the first year's accounts to the accountant.
    So far I have put onto Excel sales and purchase invoices, cheque numbers and amounts (often picked off the bank statement as the details are not on the stubb!), paying in book references and amounts
    and feel there must be a way of linking all the information to produce somthing acceptable to the accountants.

    I would be forever grateful to you, or anyone else out there, for a template to work from.

    I do have a copy of very useful example spreadsheet on excel - cashbook with VAT return calculations and bank reconciliations that a member of accountingweb told anyone interested to download his excel "freebies" themselves from his website. I have used it as a start point for my own templates.

    firstly - let me apologise to anyone who has tagged to this thread and was concerned that they had had no response.

    i am so sorry that i have not been able to reply to your requests.

    I have been off site for some time - this is due to having had pneumonia and then being made redundant. I have only just changed my profile address - as any notices were going to my last employment - where i no longer am!

    i have only just started to come back on to site, however, the company which operated this system is the one which i was made redundant from !! So i'm afraid i may not be able to provide this info to you - unless i have a search on my old computer at home to see if i have any clear drafts.

    I will have a look for you and if found will certainly send it across to you.

    please do not think that i have disregarded this request on purpose - i'm sure some of you can understand how awful the past few months have been. - but getting back to health now and will no doubt be on the site more in the future.
