Hi - Please could someone help me!

I am doing a depreciation question and it states in the motor vehicles that the depreciation is 33a% per year on cost (straight line basis) Could someone please tell me what the 'a' stands for in the 33%.

I have asked loads of people but no one knows!

Thanks,
Benny

    Hi Benny.

    It's a misprint - it shouldn't be there.

    Re:Help!!

Well thats what I thought but when I work out 33% on 10,500 it comes to 3465 (10,500*33%) but the answer is 3500 - so 10,500*33.333333=3499.999 so 3500.

I wasnt sure if the 'a' meant reoccurring as thats the only way to get the answer.

    Thanks

If you are using straight line over 3 years - you would need 33.3333%, so maybe that's their symbol for recurring.

If you think about it logically, you need 100% divided by 3, i.e. a third.
