I am struggling with the project still!
I have changed my mind so many times about what to do it on as getting the info I need was proving difficult.
I finally decided to try to get info from the bank about setting up a cheque run system or BACS system.
I went to HSBC yesterday and told them about the project and asked what info they could give me. They said none!
So I tried a different branch, one where we have banked for many years and are well known. This time I didn't mention the project and said we were interested in actually doing it (which we might) and they said they would ring the directors and speak to them. My parents are the directors! I felt like saying 'do you think I am a child'....'we will ring your parents and speak to them'.....aaarrrgggghhhh!!
How on earth am I supposed to get any info for my project if no one will help me?! :x
Sarah.

Re:Total frustration! - project
Hi
Changing to BACS is a good idea - if you do frequent cheque runs it really cuts the admin down and is much more secure and easier to reconcile at month end (rather than ticking off loads of cheques on the bank statement).
Osbourne books project textbook has BACS as an example which might help. Banks don't generally talk to anyone expect signatories as it is too risky. We use Sage E-banking and import the files to Barlcays Business Master (you can find info on E-banking on Sage website).
The case study didn't go into huge amounts of detail it was more about the advantages for reducing costs and stopping fraud.
You could always find out some info online and put that you presented it to the directors to suggest they meet with the bank. Its no problem if you can't personally be at the meeting.
Do you have the osbourne book - I can sell you mine as I am all done if you want?
Hope that helps, Torix
PS I also have a sample letter we sent to all our suppliers to get them to sign up to BACS and for any new customers-it could probably be improved on though. Albany software are another provider and the sales guys willtalk to anyone and do demonstrations as far as I know.

Thanks Tori!
I've seen the Osborne example, thats where I got my idea from although I'm trying not to look at it again in case I get too many ideas and not do enought research myself.
The thing about signatories...I am one...but they still wouldn't talk to me! How rude! We will ring your parents, the directors blah blah blah... I understand the fraud elements but if I'm a signatore and listed as one on their computer then they should help me out. I hate banks!
We use Sage so I'll look up the e-banking on their website and maybe call them up.
Thanks a lot!

I've just printed off a load of stuff from the Sage website about e-banking and Hexagon and found a brochure to send off for from the HSBC website so I'm on a roll now!
Thanks for your help Tori. You're a star :P
