Dont answer if you think im being intrusive but I just want to get an idea of the types of pay we are all on for the kind of work we do.
I am a senior accounts assistant and do a bit of everything (Purchase ledger, general ledger to Trial Balance, accrual/prepayments/intercompany adjustments, analysis reports, bank racs, control account recs and petty cash control etc) and I get a measley £15,500 pa. I live in Northamptonshire and have been with my company for six years. Just cant help thinking that they're slightly taking the piss a bit! I just have the PCR left to sit and then Im thinking about negotiating a payrise. I dont want to overstep the mark though and get told to hop it lol!

Re:How much do you earn?
I think it's very good idea to know the current market rate and how much you're earning.
Recruitment agencies do salary survey , i.e Hays, Robert Half publish data regarding this.
I work in London & don't think it's comparable with other areas( i mean outside London).
You can have a look on the local recruitment agencys' website, newspaper advert & other job advert for the same type of jobs plus how much they offer .Salary might vary with number of year's of experience and qualification.
Hope it would help
Thanks

Re:How much do you earn?
Hi Laura
I work as a Bursar at a primary school in Bristol - 24 hours a week, term time only +2 (which is about 48 weeks pay) and I earn about £12,500.
You obviously have the skills and you need to sell them. If your current place of work won't pay you your worth it is sometimes worth looking around and see what is on offer.
Best of luck

Laura - the Terms and Conditions clearly state that you are not allowed to use bad language on the forum.

Re:How much do you earn?
Hi Laura,
I work in Practice in Northampton, and am just about to take my last exam, and earn £10,500. I went to Hays recruitment, and in industry, all the jobs at this level were at a similar level to what your earning. I had a couple of offers at the £15,000 level, but I am waiting to see what happens here when I start Chartered.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck with you situation anyway, I'm sure they'll recognise your worth.
Cheers

Re:How much do you earn?
Hi
Moving along everyso often can help push your salary up at a faster rate than if you stay put, well at least it has for me. I started in acounts 4 1/2 years ago on £11k i've changed jobs 4 times in that space of time and now earn nearly twice as much, which for where I live and the experience I have is about right.
If I were you i'd wait til i completed my exams and then try to negotiate a pay rise and/or look around.

Hiya
My official title is "purchase ledger clerk" but apart from PL, I cover monthly purchase and sales ledger reconciliations, PPV, GRNI, national stats, and am just starting to get involved in the setting up implementation of internal audits - all of this is within the manufacturing industry based in Scotland and with a salary of £18k. This will hoprefully increase in after the Technician exams in June.0 -

I'm an accounts manager in Bradford. I do pretty much everything along with the Financial Director and earn £19,500.0 -
Re:How much do you earn?
Its hard for anyone to judge how much is the right amount, as it also depends on age and experience.0 -
Re:How much do you earn?
If you don't mind me saying, £10,500 is an extremely low salary even within practice. Practices have a reputation for not paying greatly but to give you a guide I am on £13000 at intermediate level which is a middle range salary for my level (trainee with over two years experience).
Of course it depends on the study support you receive from your employer also, but as a rule, employers won't pay you what you are worth unless you change job or threaten tyo leave to pastures new.
