ACCA Distance Learning

I've just finished Technician, studying with BPP through Home Study.
I'm looking to start ACCA this year, again on Home Study. Although I like the study materials provided by BPP, I find that they are pretty useless when answering queries and it's always difficult trying to contact someone.
Can anybody recommend an alternative home study course?

Re:ACCA Distance Learning
How you find distance learning really depends on you and your situation. It can be really difficlut to stay motivated and you have to be disciplined in your studying, it can be very easy to leave everything until the last minute. I don't have a problem working on my own but some people prefer the support of a classroom and a tutor.
The advantage of home study is that you can work at your own pace and spend more time on areas that you find diffcult, rather than according to a class schedule. I'm not sure on the costs - I know that my BPP AAT course has cost probably as much as it would for me to have studeied at college (in Leicester anyway), but usually with distance learning, you can 'buy' a unit at a time so the costs can be spread.
Hope this helps a little!0 -

Re:ACCA Distance Learning
Hi,
I studied and passed AAT through a BPP home study course (using textbooks)and found it to be very good.
Now, I am currently studying ACCA papers 2.1 & 2.3 with BPP online.
It cost £100 per paper. Some parts are very good - there is a good choice of practice questions. However, I have found some aspects of it to be poor. To print from the screen takes ages and takes up a whole piece of A4 for say just one line of text and loads of graphics which can be quite annoying. I have also ended up buying the text books for paper 2.1 as I felt this subject was not fully explained in the online tutorial. I think for the rest of the papers, I will prefer to just buy the textbooks and workbooks.
Hope this helps - Lisa0 -
Re:ACCA Distance Learning
Hi,
I am looking at going to do ACCA in sept, i have looked at the prices and to do it through a university it cost nearly £4000 a year, compared to a fraction of the amount to do it through home study. There is also no funding you can get i.e grant as it is part time.
I don't think i am motivated enough to do it at home as i would never get any work done.
What a dilema i am in.0
