Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
I wouldn't have thought that would have been a catastrophic error. If you used the wrong absorption rate in two calculations, they cannot penalize you twice for the same error. As long as your approach was correct and you showed your workings and your "waffle" was on the right lines you should be fine.
I would be extremely surprised if they failed you on that.
Kind regards

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
You did the right thing in continuing to use the incorrect rate rather than go back to the start and correct your calculations using the correct rate. If you had gone back to correct it you would have lost valuable time (we had this drummed into our cranium's dozens of times from BPP when I was a student) and it always worked for me (apart from paper 2.4 at ACCA when I did go back and correct the whole paper 45 minutes into the exam because I found a simple error!) The pressure was awful! God knows how I passed that! :-o
By doing what you did you may only lose one mark. At least the examiner can see you knew what he was expecting from you.
Kind regards

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
actually, another question....
are BPP any good for CIMA? Im thinking (or rather my boss is thinking of sending me) to BPP Manchester. Ive tried getting information on CIMA from them but its all far too confusing. I work full time and get day release, so dont quite know how many exams you study for in a day - whether its a full day, 2 half days, more than 1 day or what.... :?:
I have got my project boxed off (nearly!) so, after PCR thats it, i am onto CIMA. Friends think i am M.A.D. but hey, it pays the bills
can you give me any guidance? My college tutor was meant to get someone in from BPP, but apparently its all gone "political" because the college i currently study at also offer CIMA, but evenings which I certainly dont do...

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
I know I'm sorry that my input has been somewhat "switched off" recently. I've been inundated at work with various projects which has meant I've not been able to help out with students queries - hopefully things will ease off a little soon!
The problem with the PCR and PEV papers is that they were always my worst subject! I wouldn't have a clue where to start on them nowadays so I don't have any tips to give you I'm afraid other than to make sure you go in with the basic background knowledge covered. Also, if you make a mistake just continue with the rest of the paper. I cannot stress enough the importance of sticking to your time allocation - once it's up move on. If you overrun you risk losing marks on another question or section. By sticking strictly to your time allocation will mean that you have the time to give each question in each section a decent stab. They aren't just testing your knowledge they're also testing how you cope under pressure.
Good luck for Thursday - I bet you'll all be glad when this weeks over! I get the feeling that copious amounts of alcohol are going to be consumed during the latter part of this week! I'll have one (or maybe two) for you all this week.
Kind regards

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
Michelle,
BPP Manchester are quite simply the best! Nobody will ever tell me any different.
I did AAT finals and all my ACCA with BPP and they were truly fantastic. They have taken a bit of a slating on these forums recently but I think that's in connection with home study and projects. Classroom wise, their tutors are brilliant - down to earth, helpful, professional and bloody knowledgeable.
You won't have any problems doing CIMA with BPP M'cr.
Kind regards

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
thank you very much. I trust your words coz your ded brainy and all that
tomorrow i wil get my boss to get his cheque book out....
im a bit nervous about doing CIMA - its quite intense from what I have heard, but its something i feel i need to do. some people from college are stopping after AAT, but for me, i have an opportunity of someone else picking up the tab, so Im going for it.
I might pop into Manchester and meet the tutors.
Thanks Ste, your advice is much appreciated, or in the words of my up and coming teenage neice, "kullness" 8)0 -

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
I don't blame you going on to CIMA. Seriously, BPP were fantastic. I did the weekend taught courses and their revision courses. Their weekend revision courses weren't really beneficial to me because (understandably) the tutors can only fit so much into a weekend revision course. Their weekday revision courses were ace.
The other good thing about BPP Manchester is that the tutors somehow make even the most boring subjects quite amusing. I know our auditing tutor, Saiqa, told some funny stories which made auditing quite light hearted (sounds sad I know!) but I think that's how they get you through it. The other thing as well with them is that they are serious about you passing and are very approachable. One lad who sat his ACCA finals with me struggled with certain aspects and the tutor spent half her lunch break helping him.
I will always hold them in high regard.

Re:PEUGOT MESSAGE FOR PLEASE
I did some papers for AAT with FTC and I didn't find them that good. The tutor didn't seem all that interested to be quite truthful. I went to BPP M'cr for their revision course to help me with a subject I was studying at FTC and their revision course answered all my queries. Again, the tutor spent loads of time with us (especially when he found out I studied with FTC)
Let me know how you get on.
