Anyone know what the pass rate needs to be?

Just wondered if anyone knows what the required pass rate is for ECR?

Little bit worried as our tutor didnt go over normal losses, abnormal losses and gains etc and as it hadnt been in a past exam previously most of the students at my college didnt pick up on it (me included :cry: !

I'm praying everything else was okay though!

    You havr to get about 70% on each section, ie section 1 and section 2

    I'm not sure it's a good idea to be discussing %ages so soon after the exam - you may terrify other students unnecessarily.

    Other posters have stated that the AAT do not set the benchmark until after the papers have been marked. Other posters have said that there is no set %age whilst others speculate about the 60% or 70% benchmark.

    Nobody really knows the % other than the markers who aren't going to tell you so I wouldn't dwell too much on the pass marks.

    Sorry didn't realise I was upsetting anyone!

    Truth is it will be around 70% particularly as it was an easy paper but that still means you can get 30% of it wrong, so you can get nearly a third wrong and still pass so it isn't as bad as it sounds

    Sorry if I implied you were upsetting anyone - that's not what I intended.

    The point I am trying to make is that we are not trained or objective markers and therefore are not really in a position to comment on the marking process. Moreso, the AAT never reveal their benchmark for a pass or fail nor do they reveal how they arrive at their benchmarks.

    There are lots of postings "speculating" on the %age and various different posters have different opinions on this. The fact is, nobody knows only the AAT.

    Let's put it another way - I remember sitting my AAT finals (about 7 years ago now) and I remember the then PEV equivalent and there was no way on earth I would have got 70% but I still passed.

    Understand what you're saying - but for various reasons I would be confident on saying it will be around 70% and certainly no lower than 65%

    to be fair i have just sat the paper and what is done is done no use worrying about pass marks and stuff, i did with fra and was suprised when i passed however management accounts are not for me, so i aint going to worry bout what the pass mark is and if i fail there is always the december exam :)

    i agree,

    I know it is a pain (as such) if you need to take resits, but at least the option is there.

    Once the papers have been marked, there is a review of the benchmark, for example if lots of people fail (which im sure we wont) then the benchmark may be adjusted.

    I dont see why it even matters what the pass mark is as it isnt going to affect how well you perform is it?

    No, but I asked for the purpose of yesterdays paper not tomorrows ahead of the exam!

    Rach, we understand you being anxious about your results, but you have no way of knowing what mark you got, so knowing the pass mark would not help you.

    Put it behind you, and wait for the official results :-)

    As it wasn't in the exam paper before it should have a low competancy rate because we've had nothing to practice with.

    I think saying that it would be around 70% is probably raising the bar a bit too high and thinking that it will be is perhaps a bit of unnecessary berating.

    Hi y'all

    I would like to say that I found unit 6 tough, but to all of you out there worrying, please try not to. At the end of the day it is only an exam and it can always be re-taken. Everybody know how hard we have all studied and if we don't get it this time I am sure we will next time.

    Also bear in mind that this time around we had a new examiner so the style of paper varied from what we may have been expecting. Maybe AAT will take this into consideration. Who knows.
