Afternoon All
Have sat the DFS exam, I thought it was a breeze! Anyone else agree?
It was exactly the same as the specimen papaer - Wolf Ltd.
At least that's one exam in the bag. 3 down - 1 to go!

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Agreed, just waffled a bit in section 2, you never know exactly what there looking for!!!0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I thought it was ok. Had a few mind blocks. But made sure i answered everyhting, and the ones I had a block on, i tried to make sure i showed i understoof the concept0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
It was easy - just quite writing intensive. I thought I was going to run out of time at one point.
There was nothing on there I couldn't do but it did take a while - all that writing!! :x0 -

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I thought it was pretty easy, extremely similar to the specimen paper. Managed to get everything to balance, which I guess guarantees a certain mark, and am hoping I blagged at least 50% of the rest.
Mind you, everyone else I've spoken to or heard from has said much the same thing, so does that mean that the pass mark will be much higher?0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
As long as you had done several past papers it was straight-forward. The journals were a joke!
It did take a while though, you have to cover everything you can think of in the report. :twisted:0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I actually enjoyed it! Much better than I thought it was going to be. Balanced everything, got the right IAS numbers, had to waffle a bit and nearly ran out of time, but all in all, it could have been a lot worse.

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
well those comments have made me feel worse.... nothing balanced for me ! what a nightmare I had section a and b nothing worked for me at all, the rest was fine0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Just cause you didn't balance doesnt mean you wont pass though. If you showed all your workings ect you should be ok. Might of just been minor errors thats all! Chin up x0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Do you reckon that becuase it was easier than most of the last few papers, that they will be stricter on the written parts so that they wont have to pass so many? surely if all your balnces matched in all the questions then surely if you have half decently answered the other questions, you would pass? anyone agree?0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Start of the exam was great consolidated b/s balanced company i/s and b/s balance with all workings and first time, couldnt get the cash flow to balance for the life of me, if I'm going to struggle it will be on the written questions tried to waffle on a bit. Section 2 was straight forward enough.0 -

That's how I felt, I made one mistake early on, spent a little time trying to spot it & spent the rest of the exam franticaly scribbling away.
I understood everything on there & with another 30 mins could've embelished on my answers a bit, but there just wasn't any time for error at all!0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Surprised that the exam was so straight forward. Thought there would have been more on the accounting standards.0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Not sure they felt they could do that in the first year of the new standards or it would affect the pass rates.. Quite a good year to be doing it really.0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Very true, quite lucky, apart from the wordy bits.0 -

I thought the last journal entry was correct. It said DR Tax (Income statement) CR Tax liability (Balance sheet). Am I wrong?0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
The actual journal was correct but it perhaps wasn't clear as to which was Income Statement and which was Balance Sheet. I just specified which was which.0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
It was correct Dr Tax Expense and CR Tax payable

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I agree... well sort of. Got everything to balance first time so in that respect I was really pleased. However, brain freeze on the written parts. Could for the life of me remember my IAS etc so rambled on the bits I did know.
Brain freeze carried through with the ratios so wrote what I thought and explained how I came about those answers.
Fingers crossed I did enough *pretty pretty please*, one more to do!!!!! :?0 -
Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I found the exam straightforward enough, used all of my time and had 15 minutes left for the quality check. Everything balanced and I answered all the memo questions.
Had anyone else got the same figures as myself:
Part 1- a). balancing figure is รยฃ100408
b). balancing figure is รยฃ39290, profit was
รยฃ833
c). รยฃ407 - net cash increase, รยฃ7028 -profit
from operations
We all need luck for Taxation now !

got the same for a, do not remember b but that figure does not ring any bells on what I used. and the same for c0 -

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
Thought that wasn't too bad actually. Had to waffle a bit with the Intangible Assets question. I just seem to have a block when it comes to describing what an intangible asset is. I know it - but writing it down is another matter!!
Hopefully that bit will not be worth too many marks. Everything else balanced. Felt this was the most time pressured one so far as there was so much writing to do.

Re:DFS 2006 - How easy was that exam?
I got nothing to balance. showed lots of workings though and had no idea for the business combinations. Pretty sure I passed section 2. Not sure about section 1.0
