Re:Portfolio - Mapping???
Can anyone shed any light on what 'Mapping' is ???
out tutor hasn't told what it is or how to do it but keeps harping on that we should be doing it.....
i understand it's to do with putting stickers on various bits of work with in our portfolios so that it can be referenced easily but don't know any more than that.....
can anyone help?? :shock:0 -
Mapping
hey, i think i know what you mean. Your portfolio should have an index and each page have a reference number. If you get some small sticker things from WH Smith or sumfin, u can stick them on the top corner of your pages. Every section should be a different number tho - For example, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 1.4 then for your next section, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4...and so on! Then have an index at the front with all th numbers and the content of that page. Hope that helps! its what i did for my foundation portfolio and my intermediate which av jus finished!

Re:Portfolio
Well, you have to do a portfolio at every level BUT you've got all the tedious stuff out the way and all you'll need in there next year is your skills tests and a few other small bits and pieces.

Re:Portfolio
we've been told nothing about the actual portfolio. All the work is done but not the portfolio. Is it something I need to get done straight away and does it need sending off right away? I'm really in the dark on this so sorry if i appear thick

Re:Portfolio
I'm really worried - my tutor told me to just put my simulation covers in for each unit and that would be fine. But I read the student record the other day and it said we should put at least TWO types of evidence in for each unit  The only evidence I've got is my simulations!!0 -
Re:Portfolio
Hi, I handed in my portfolio and have actually had it back all signed off and passed. I didnt put work based evidence in for every unit as I was unable to do so. I put evidence in for units 1 and 2 and that was it. Oh and for health and safety and personal effectiveness too.
I cant see how its mandatory to put evidence for evry single unit, what if you do do any work that covers that unit!!!
Hope this helps

Re:Portfolio
You should be fine Gem, the sims are designed to cover everything that the exam doesn't and I asked this question and the sims are sufficient.0 -
Re:Portfolio
If your tutor and the internal verifier sign you off then you've no need to worry as that's all that's needed. The college then pass this information on to the AAT - the AAT themselves don't assess portfolios.
Periodically, an external verifier will visit the college (this recently happened at mine), one of their tasks is to have a look at portfolios to check that the college is doing it's job properly. If the college has been passing stuff that is not up to scratch it'll get a bolllocking from the AAT but there's no repercussions from this for the students.

Re:Portfolio
thanks that's helped me too, basically i realise now that the portfolio doesn't need to be sent off anywhere so i understand, i was fretting that despite having done the work, i Might need to suddenly sort my portfolio out in order to pass the foundation level, seems that's not the case and i can relax about sorting the portfolio0 -
Re:Portfolio
I have just had my portfolio signed off except for the unit 4 sim which I did this afternoon!! Aaaah!!
I had no extra evidence for units 1-3 except the sage and sims (apart from some which had to be crossed referenced to APE and WWC), and I had no work based evidence. I did it all in college or had my lecturer do observations on me at college.
provided you cover each point in the action plan with evidence of some sort then you will all be fine!!
I now just have to get unit 4 signed off (if I pass it) and I shall hopefully do that next week!!0
