Hi,
My manager wants me to start the Technician stage and do the exams in December. Is this possible as there's only 6 months and there's a project and also holidays in between. :? I've only just finished the intermediate exams and hopefully I've passed. What's technician stage like? Is it very hard work??? Also what's this project about?
Grateful for any advice

Re:Starting Technician level
Hi Sonia.
It is technically possible to finish in December, but it would mean a lot of sacrifice and hard work.
The project is a 4,000 word report based on 'Managing Systems and People'.

Re:Starting Technician level
Thanks Scott,
I think I would like a bit of a break as I work full time. I'm thinking of doing it through premier training as they do home study and it would save all the travelling to and from college. I'll probably aim for next June exams. It's just that my manager wants me trained asap.
Thanks for your advice.0 -
Re:Starting Technician level
I would suggest splitting the exams between this December and next June, doing the project as you go along.

Re:Starting Technician level
I never thought of that. I suppose it would pace it a bit better. I'll ponder on that thought I just need to decide my other optional units to do. I think my manager wants me to do ACCA but I'm not sure if I want to go that far. As for the project I'll have to find further info on it before I start. Any ideas where I'd find the info on the AAT website? My manager is really good and I think she'd support it.
Thanks a lot.0 -
Re:Starting Technician level
If you look under 'Students', 'Resource Centre' there is lots of information to print off on the project, as well as detailed guidance notes on all the units. This may help you decide which options to take.
I would recommend Business and Personal Tax, especially if you might go on to do ACCA.

Re:Starting Technician level
I'm studying Technician with Premier and will be doing exams in December and June. It can be done (apparently!), but I think you need to take a (very) short break and then get cracking. 8)0 -
Re:Starting Technician level
Thanks for the advice- How are you finding Premier? Do they respond to your queries well? Do you think I'd need e-mail for it?
Cheers.

Re:Starting Technician level
I did two sets of exams (3 in June, 3 in December) and studied on day release from work to a college (one day per week) over 8 months (we had a summer break from College). Even then it was a bit of a struggle as the homework cut into home/social life a lot. I wouldn't like to have done it in 6 months, and all the exams in one week would have been impossible for me.0 -
Re:Starting Technician level
i am not sure which college to go to yet one is NVQ the other is diploma.
Do you have to do the project on both of these??
very confused!!!0
