Units 21, 22, 23

How long has everyone spent on Units 21, 22 and 23. I'm really struggling on these. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

    Dear Nicola

    I have just logged in to this forum to see how I can provide evidence for these units as I not currently working, how am I supposed to show that I have done these things, you know like turn the pc on, I think I am losing the plot?

    Can you make suggestions that will get me back on track...!

    hi

    i used screenshots for my units

    a screenshot of the virus check, password,access to files etc

    just press your printscreen button then paste on to a word document

    just email if you want some help as i finished my portfolio too. its the sims i have trouble with-lol

    Thanks for that, now if you do my portfolio I will sit your sims, I have no problem with exams etc, just general stuff! must be having an anal accountant moment.

    I hate to have to tell you I never did that unit I went straight in on intermediate, I am a mature student...?!Never had to do evedence before, just exams!

    What is the problem I should be able to help

    Don't you still have to do them in Intermediate if you haven't done them in Foundation? This stuff about prove you can switch the computer on, is driving me up the wall!

    I still have to do theses units 21,22 & 23, but I was replying to the question about unit 3, which I never did.

    I am still baffled about what constitutes 'evidence'. I am doing distance learning and they provide a text book which explains the unit, but nothing to assist with 'evidence' as such, you would think for what I am having to pay they would come up with at least a skills test, or a scenario that we could work from like the colleges do!

    What makes it worse is that you are supposed to provide two pieces for each, so 'how I turned the computer on twice!...'.

    In reply to the working with computers 'turn the pc on'. I just got my line manager to sign next to each thing to say that he had witnessed me do these things and that was acceptable. Bit insulting really considering, as I think if you're doing accountancy you generally know how to turn a pc on!

    So do you need to do that sort of thing just once, my portfolio guidance from FTC states that I need to provide two pieces of evidence for each element, what else did you provide?

    I didn't provide anything else because they sent me a spreadsheet assignment to cover the gaps for that unit. But then I'm doing a homestudy course so maybe a bit different.

    I am doing a homestudy course, but they told me there were no spreadsheet assignments provided for these three units, who are you studying with?

    A+ Training. I think you might have to speak to your tutor if you have one. Mind you, all these homestudy courses don't seem to have much in the way of help and support!

    J ahve spoken to them and they are not really very helpful, very vague about things, I have tried to book a skills test for two weeks now and they just never come back to me!

    I will look at A+ for my technician stage next month.

    so does anyone know exactly what tasks we have to do for the devolved assessment for working with computers... I am currenlty about to do this part of foundation, but my tuitor has decided in all her wisdom to not bother telling me what i need to do!!

    I can't seem to find a structure for my h&s assignment and APE assignments. . .and am having trouble with the teamwork thing - i work on my own so don't work in a team!

    Plus, i've done most of the tasks but am just having trouble trying to get procedures ie fire drills, evacuation etc from unhelpful people at work!
    Can anyone help?

    You may have already completed it now as your message was a while ago, but my tutor gave us a question sheet and we have just followed it through task by task. (Wish they would have done this for H&S and APE) Also, just include in the assessment, any screen prints of things like password requests, folders in your drives on the computer etc . . should get you through.
    I can forward you my question sheet if you send me your email address so that you can use that as a guide - not sure how different it is to other colleges' but it was written according to the elements needed for that unit.

    Hi
    We basically had some questions which mirrored the student record

    ie Qu1 Compile a checklist of safety checks prior to starting up a computer

    Qu2 Explain the use of passwords (system and software) and your prganisational procedures in changing them

    Qu3 Demonstrate how you would access, save and print data and exit from software

    You basically just follow through the elements on the student record and do a few screen prints etc

    Hi,

    I had an observation which covered most of the unit, but for the parts that weren't covered my tutor gave me some additional questions to answer.

    If you want I cna email you the additional questions which I was set so you cna have a look at them.

    the best thing to do if you are stuck on what to do is to read your action plan (that's what I did). That tells you exactly what evidence you need to provide. Eg: saving a file - Save a file and do a screenshot of each step. Then add a personal statement describing what you did
