I am due to start my technician year in September. I am trying to be organised and start my project now  . I've looked at the info in the AAT reference section, but I need some inspiration. Anybody else feel bewildered by unit 10?

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Katie.
Everybody feels bewildered by the project - you are not alone!
Use the AAT information, and draft out a plan. You will need to save it on a computer, so think about getting a memory pen.
It's not that bad once you get started :-)

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Scott,
Thanks for responding to my post.
I wish you were my tutor for this project. When I asked the college tutor for titles that have previously been done, just to get an idea of how it works(so that I could do my own brain blast session), he said that the previous projects were all confidential. I didn't want to read the whole project!! that's so uncool.
Never mind, I am going through the performance criteria and relating them to my job. I am sure that a spark of inspiration will come soon.

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Katie.
Have you looked at the sample project on this site - it's 47 pages long, but should give you an idea.
Once you get the 'bare bones', i.e. sections, headings, etc, you can soon build it up.
Keep smiling :-)

Cheers Scott,
The sun is shining, so I am smiling. It'll take more than Unit 10 to get the better of me!!

As I in the army, there not a great deal of the material you can use, but it might help with layout, quantity, etc

How can the titles be confidential, if people here are emailing each other whole projects (see other threads).0 -
Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
You are not allowed to share projects - this is a complete no-no.

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Mick
Thanks for the offer. My post was really concerned with topic rather than content. I have just had a good brain storm session and I have an idea that my boss thinks is workable. I now think I might have fun constraining myself to the word limit, rather than not being able to fill it!
Cheers

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
i wish i could come up with an idea for the project!! my boss has totally refused for me to do anything based on the business.
So if i try to base it on my own work, i have to change all names/details and have not got him to help.0 -
Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi ShazAAT,
What a nightmare. I am sorry that your boss does not see this project as a benefit to your company. This would be the ideal opportunity for your employer to have you analyse a process / system for free!! (When they could get in consultants and it cost them £000's).
Have you looked at the AAT case study? Scotty pointed me in that direction, it's in the resource section.

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
He's set in his ways, been in business for himself for over 40 years, says there is nothing he needs changing and i am to keep his private business out of my studies, lol. Thats the disadvantage of working for a small partnership i guess.
I hope to do the AAT case study for my project, but yet to get the enthusiasm to get started. Thanks for advice anyway! (its good to moan lol

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
No worries. I am new to this discussion stuff myself. I only discovered it after I took the exam. I find it very addictive and yes it's a great way to let of steam!!!

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
I'm doing my project on sales ledger and I have even got permission from one of our customers to follow one of his jobs from starting off at credit control, order processing, order ack's, invoicing, statements right up to him paying me his cheque. Hopefully this way I will get everything covered.0 -
Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Cool. Maybe as he knows you are reviewing it, that will be one invoice that get's paid on time!!!0 -
Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
do you have to do the case study simulation as well as the project??0 -
Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Angela,
As far as I am aware, you use the case study to write your report, if you do not work in an accounting job or your company does not want you to use their data.
Hope this helps.

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Hi Angela.
The Case Study is the project. You can either base Unit 10 on your own workplace, or the one in the Case Study - you won't have to do both :-)

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
Thanks!
I was panicking thinking I would have to do both!!
What did you do??

Re:Unit 10 - the sensible thing
I was not allowed to mention my company name, but otherwise I was allowed to write about my role, but in a ficticious company.
I found it daunting too, but I really scribbled bare notes and sketched out ideas before comitting to the computer and it all flowed from there.
My tutor said it was really good and as long as the internal verifyer didn't have any problems, it was as good as signed off.
So don't worry, just write about what you know and look on Google for websites covering fraud.0
