On June 14th, I sat my FRA exam at my chosed venue. It was a very warm day and the window shutters were wide open. Approximately 15 mins into the exam, (just i was attempting and struggling with the part-ex question-my weak point!!) a LAWN MOWER started in the grounds and the noise was VERY LOUD!! I am astonished that the invigilator made no effort to stop the disturbance, or even to mention it. In retrospect,I know i could have complained, however i was unwell, I was under pressure and losing valuable time struggling to work out the disposal etc, and i just tried to block the noise out and get on with the exam!!
I am so unhappy and want to complain. I'm not asking for any special consideration, but the circumstances which i sat the exam, were not conducive to a good result, and i would hate anyone else to ever have to sit a very important exam and have to endure the conditions i experienced that day!!!!!!!!!!! I am seriously thinking to write to them, but whats the point. I remain hopeful for a good result although only time will tell.

Re:Lawn mower!!!!!!!!!!
When I took one of my exams last December, the student next to me munched their way through two packets of mints and then something very, very chewy. On the other side, I was next to a radiator that had one setting - sauna. It was not a good experience - I became angrier with every munch! I still passed, perhaps it took my mind off my nerves? 8)0 -
Re:Lawn mower!!!!!!!!!!
I remember taking one of the Central assessments in a gigantic (aircraft hangar sized) college hall which was icy cold (breath literally frosting on the air) - they turned on two roaring "hot air balloon" gas burners at the back fo the hall, and it made no difference (maybe it went up from -5 degrees to -4 degrees!). By the end of the 3.5 hours our hands were blue and we were wearing our outdoor coats and scarves etc.
Moral of these stories is to bring earplugs and hot water bottles.0 -
Re:Lawn mower!!!!!!!!!!
I would seriously consider writing to the AAT about the lawn mower disturbances as I think this is totally unacceptable. Also, if you were unwell and you have a doctors certificate you can send them that and they should take this into consideration when they mark your paper.
Good luck and I hope you are feeling better.
