Hi
I've studied all of the AAT through Home Studay and have finished all of my exams, but am now not sure about the project.
I have sat all the sims for int. and am now completing evidence for audit procedure and cash and credit management. Do I also have a project to do as it hasn't shown anything to say so on my last statement of achievement.
Also - my family heard that once qualified you can receive your certificate in the whole cap and gown ceremony - does anyone know if this is right?>

Hi Vikks
Yes to both your questions - you do have to complete a 4,000 word project - lots of help on this site about it.
And yes - you can go to a ceremony and get presented with all your stuff BUT these are only held once a year in the Autumn. I passed my final tech exam last summer, but because my college and AAT were soooo slow in processing my project, I didn't officially get signed off until December and the ceremonies were in November. Yes, I could go to one this autumn, but somehow the moment has passed.....
I know that last year other people felt let down by missing the cut-off, but there are no plans that I know of to hold two ceremonies a year once in the autumn and another in the spring, which is quite a shame really.

Thats a great help thanks! I thought I'd got out of doing the project !
Do you know how you'd go about getting involved in the ceremony if your not attached to a college? I've studied through BPP Home study

Re:Applying
I think (but not sure) that the AAT invite you, presumably to the one closest to where you live
Perhaps others who have actually attended one could help you?

Re:Applying
Do many people go to these award ceremonies? Not my thing at all, just wondered how popular they prove0 -
Re:Applying
Hi
The AAT do invite you to the ceremonies, they usually hold a few in different locations. It isnt a cap and gown ceremony and the certificate you receive is a general congratulatory one, not your technician certificate.
Who are you studying with? They will be able to advise on the project.

Re:Applying
Hi Neil, being a bit thick here, hope you can uncloud my befuddled mind.
If we pass Technician is it cap & gown or not? and if it is -why is it - what does the qualification equate to in terms of degree's ect :roll:0 -
Re:Applying
Hi
The AAT ceremonies aren't cap and gown, however some colleges do arrange a cap and gown ceremonie for their own students.
As for the AAT in degree terms, some universities will give credit towards degrees for the AAT qualification. This is usually half to a full year of a full time degree. Most uni degress are rated in quantity of study by points - 360 for a full honours degree. AAT technician can atract between 60 and 120 points. There are some unis that grant more, up to the equivalent of the first 2 years, but I'd question the quality of the universities accreditation if they award this much.

Our college is doing the cap and gown, although i will only go if i pass this year.
I am hoping to go on and do a degree in accounting and finance, and i will be exempt from year one if i pass.0
