Important decision to make

Hi all,

Any advice on the following would be useful...

I have been offered a secondment opportunity which is more high profile than my current role normally an easy decision to make.

However, I have been acting up in my current role for over a year and there will be chances soon to make this permenant dependent on the applicantions received.

What I do not wnat to do is take the secondment and then when it ends (after over a year) return to my substantive post which is low level.

    This is quite a tough decision to make!

    If I was in that position, I would firstly have a chat with your boss. Explain to him/her that you (obviously) want to progress abd see what your chances are of promotion. I, personally, would weigh up pros and cons of the secondment (pro = more responsibility, enhanced CV, more money probably - the cons = only temporary perhaps).

    Have a chat with your supervisor and get their thoughts on your position and their opinion on what you should do and then make the decision which you feel will serve you best.
