    I'm just setting up and am planning to offer bookeeping and annual accounts to sole traders (just small fry really). Also vat returns and self assessment.
    I work full time as assistant management accountant so it will be a slow process to build up clients but my aim is to work part time for an employer and part time for myself.
    By the way is this the new Dean & Claudia forum? He He :lol:

    OK Dean - here we go a serious answer after the end of week frivolity.

    I provide bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, accounts, personal and business tax and a tad of management accounting.

    If required I can, and do, provide a nagging service USP for a woman that - most of my (male) clients say they like to be nagged :wink: honestly that is what they say.

    Oh and I have also learnt to read tachographs since working for myself!!!!

    Cant think of anything else at the moment - but sure there is lots of other stuff that I do :D

    If you're interested I provide book keeping, vat, payroll, management accounts, personal & company tax returns and am hoping to provide more in the way of a tax planning service once I have finished my ATT and CIOT exams.

    Yeah, I was interested to see what others do, as for me I provide:- accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Tax returns for the same. Company formations and a company secretarial services. Online accounting (instead on sage etc.) Bookkeeping, vat and payrolls with year end completion.

    Instead of using sage, quickbooks and the like I can provide this same software but entries are made by my clients online.

    So where you normally log into sage with a username and password etc. the same things apply just via the web.

    I'm striving to become the "electronic accountant". People can use me but dont have to be local.

    In fact my clintel is split 50/50 local and national.

    I've not heard of online accounting.
    Can you tell me where to get more info on it please :lol:
    One of my clients is based in Liverpool and it is a pain waiting for his stuff to come via post, email etc.

    As I'm based in Coventry I wonder if this might be of use to them!!

    What would you like to know?

    It works the same as any other software you can think of, sage, quickbooks, tas books and the like.

    Once client have entered there information you as the accountant can access the nominal drilldowns and the can the be copied and pasted into excel for any adjustments that you want to keep on a working papers file.

    It doesn't produce statutory accounts but you can make all the adjustments on the web yourself, print a TB and post to a "final accounts package".

    I use this as a referral from the accountant I subcontact to and I must say I think its the best thing since sliced bread but I do use it all the time so I would say that :lol:

    I do bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, credit control, monthly management accounts, financial control, spreadsheet design. I also act as tea lady, agony aunt, receptionist, IT trainer. Oh, and of course my telepathy skills are improving all the time.

    Dean, please tell mmore about the online Sage. Sage is my preferred software but I've been looking at online software from other providers. How does online Sage work, and how do you get it set up?

    Its not sage. Its software written by a programmer who is also a chartered accountant and has been developed by him and by another chartered accountant that I am subcontracting to.

    Its about to become IR approved software too. :)

    When you have a mo I would love to know how it works in reality. Presumably you see no source documents, just take their word for it??

    Lol I never just take a clients word for it. Although I dont have to get sent loads of documents. I review the nominals and ask for certain things that get sent to me via PDF.
