Are we allowed to discuss project contents on the forum or not?
It's just that I am doing a case study (simulation) on Unit 10 and read through it a couple of times and can just about find 2 weaknesses in the system and even those two I'm not sure about.
I just thought if anyone has got like a same/similar case study it can be discussed and opinions exchanged.
Another thing, does anyone have like a sample project where the layout and content can be seen just to get a rough idea on where and how to start on the project.
All help is much appreciated.

    Hi

    Im not sure abot the general discussion of the content of projects. I would imagine that if it is just discussion then it should be ok, but if you were to start dicussing things in such a way as to 'root' out ideas/information/identifcation of weaknesses etc then you might be breaching the T&Cs of the forum.

    As for exchanging project, even for a clue on layout, that is definitely against the terms and conditions of the forum.

    Having not logged on for a while, I have only just read your request.
    What a shame it appears you cannot be given ANY external help from your fellow students. I can understand requests for whole projects being denied by the board, but questions regarding layout are about as unreasonable as me (a non-accountant) asking how a P&L A/C should be presented!
    Management reports have a style all of their own and to produce them with ease is something that comes only with practice. Lets face it, if you were at work and stuck on the layout for an official document, you would ask someone!
    If you are stuggling, don't waste your holidays worrying over it, approach your lecturer early. I am sure they will have a couple of "Sample" projects you can leaf through for inspiration as to the layout.
    I am sorry I can't offer you a copy of any of the reports I have to hand here, but can assure you that it won't be half as daunting as you think once you are on a roll.
    There are a few guides on this website. Hit the "home page" and search for "Unit 10". There are bits and bobs there.
    Hope this spurs you on a bit.

    I think that the whole point about the project is that it is something that you have done totally by yourself. If you lookd at other people's then soon they would all be very samey.

    There is no right or wrong way of doing it - as long as all the information is there, then that is correct.

    Everyone has to go through it, and it is a nightmare to do, but afterwards it feels goooooooood 8)

    Osbourne also publish a good book designed to help with the project. It has lots of samples for doing a project on your own and if you are doing the case study.

    It helped me when I did my project.

    There is extensive advice including a template and an example of how the project might be done here http://www.aat.org.uk/students/display/store4/item1275/. Strange that discussing the so be taboo when the AAT themselves practically tell you how to do it.

    I think the problem is that now there are case studies (which there weren't under the old standards) if there is some discussion, the work wouldn't be the students. I don't see a problem with discussing your own ideas as it's unlikely that someone could copy that but when it's the case study it's a whole different ball game!

    Thanks for all the replies, but unfortunately i haven't started my prject yet!! :(
    After having read my case-study more, i find there are more weaknesses in the staff then in the actual system!!! And the fact you can't ask anyone is a bit unfair, i mean exchanging ideas and copying someone's 4000 word report is different! I read a bit of the sample project on the website but it's 47 pages long so can't read it all in one go.
    Anyways, i have got to complete a 'project plan' first which my tutor will assess and give feedback on and then start drafting the project!!
