Re:Pay rise?
It would depend on your contract of employment.

Re:Pay rise?
I think getting nothing is stupid coz you've worked so hard for a year and know a lot more than you did when you started. Surely you've gota be worth more to them?!!?0 -
Re:Pay rise?
You would of thought so?? That was my argument too, also the fact that since i started i have taken on a lot more work as i took over a role that two people once did, but they said that my job description hasn't changed.. (thats only because i got my contract and job description 6 months after having started)!!!0 -
Re:Pay rise?
It sounds like thats the way accountants work. All greedy!! Good luck anyway for next week!0 -
Re:Pay rise?
Couldn't be more wrong there..
Good luck to you too..0 -
Re:Pay rise?
Hi
Just thought i'd say, I have now passed foundation and intermediate and although my work is paying for my fees and wanted me to do the course I have had no related pay rise in 2 years!!!
But i'm sure it will all pay off in the end - I hope so anyway!!!0 -
Re:Pay rise?
Hi,
It really does depend on your employer. The last company I worked for did pay for the course fees but no payrise or bonus. The company I'm with now, I'm quite lucky. They're paying for all the fees, books, course, membership etc and I'm getting a bonus for passing Intermediate.
Congrats to all who passed and the one's who's employers praise the fact they passed.

Re:Pay rise?
I emailed my boss and my colleagues who went on the course with me saying I passed, my colleagues said well done, my boss still hasnt mentioned anything...
That's praise for ya!

Re:Pay rise?
Same as Gem - it took him to Friday to say congrats - even tho when I went in on Tues they all knew!
Just keep at it and don't let it get ya down - remember - you're doing it for you - not them!!
Good luck for intermediate mate

Re:Pay rise?
It's just a bit hurtful though
cos my boss and my fellow trainees were the only people who I told, cos I feel bigheaded if I tell too many people, I wait for people to ask!
And I'm still waiting for her to even acknowledge that I have a result...
The other day my colleague made a point of mentioning it while my boss was in the room, but she either didn't get the hint or she did and chose to ignore it.
She must really hate me!
Gem
ps good luck to everyone who is enroling on intermediate!0 -
Re:Pay rise?

Re:Pay rise?
I have decided to do AAT of my own back, I have previously asked my boss to help me pay for it but he refused, I have had no pay rises for two years, he never asks hows it going? - I feel he doesn't care even though it would benefit him.
I have just passed my AAT Foundation and will be studying Intermediate, and have also found a new job, which I will gain more accounting experience and be paid quite a bit more, at the mo' im only really doing manual invoices and chasing o/s debtors, so am really bored!!! - my new job will involve a more varied accounting role, sales ledger, purchase ledger, cash book, petty cash and sage, I can't wait.
So I think the moral of the story is sometimes you have to move on to gain more experience and a pay rise.0 -
Re:Pay rise?
Thanks Chris
My firm is very good, they pay for the AAT training and I get a pay rise each time I pass a level. But, my salary is awful compared to what I've heard from other people.
I'm getting some good experience here though, but I've been told the work I'm doing is too advanced for what I'm qualified to do.
Still waiting for my boss to say well done! or congrats! or have you had your result yet?
grr
