Advice to help me make my mind up please!

I have been on maternity leave and am looking to return to work. My company are not in a position to offer me my job back so I have applied for a Purchase Ledger position elsewhere. I went along to an interview and the company offered me a job but the salary is a little less than what they had advertised the job at (only by £1000)

I have accepted the job but I am confused to why it is actually less.

Do you think I should ask why? (I know thinking about it sounds like a dumb question!!!)

I am not very tactful at times though so dont know how to approach it

    Congratulations on the new job!

I would definitely contact them and ask if the salary will increase by the £1000 after say a 3 / 6 month trial period - its definitely worth asking for as a £1000 is better off in your pocket.

    Good luck

    Hi Laura.

I thought your old firm had to keep your job open for 12 months after maternity leave, but seek confirmation of this.

The new firm might have been sneaky with offering you less, but you have accepted now so wouldn't worry about it. Make sure they fund your study - this will be better than increasing your salary.

    Scott.

    Hi Scott
My employer can keep my job open for the first six months. After taking a full twleve months leave they can offer a suitable alternative upon returning to work.

I will hopefully be signing up for CIMA once my AAT result comes through next week and the new employer offers a study package so like you say it might be more worthwhile in the long run!

Definitely. I agree with Scott. Laura, the best thing you can do is pass your AAT and then go onto CIMA. This will prove very beneficial in the long run.

    Good Luck
