I am currently going to start my AAT Intermediate next Wednesday, because I have been exempt from the Foundation level, would I have to do Health & Safety Unit from the Foundation Level. If so can anyone tell me if this particular unit is heavy in terms of the syllabus and the work load.

Hi Roy,
Yes you will still need to do the working with computers, health and safety and personal effectiveness units - if they are not done at foundation, they need to be done at intermediate.
They are not that hard really - not as difficult as the other units!
Do you work in accounts or go to college? If so, you should find these units quite easy - I think it is people who are self-employed who can struggle a little with these in respect of gathering evidence.
If you go to college, speak to your tutor and they may be able to provide tests to cover some of the points.
Have you done any other quals. which may exempt you? For example, I have an I.T. GNVQ so did not need to do WWC.0 -

Well,I have OCR level 1 clait for IT Users, Pitman Trainning Diploma Foundation in Finance. Computerised Accounting using Sage City & Guilds Level 3.0 -
Re:Health & Safety
I don't think you have to do personal effectiveness at intermediate.
To some extent, exemptions are up to the college. Your Level 3 Sage sould be good enough for that part of WWC. No idea if your CLAIT will cover the rest, but it's all pretty basic stuff.
H&S is a bit of a pain but it's not particularly heavy. I used to be an academic and am experienced in producing reports so the actual writing part was easy for me. I'm self-employed and don't have a lot to do with H&S in my work, so much of it was hypothetical with just bits and pieces from my work and and a lot of info downloaded from the net.
All I did was write out the elements from the student record card and filled in the spaces. Don't, though, do the other thing that I did and leave it til (almost literally) the last minute.

Re:Health & Safety
I have IBT 2 (Clait 2) and it didn't exempt me from diddly squat!! I still had to do personal effectiveness and Health and safety, I'm afraid you won't be able to get out of it! As others have said, it's not hard, just a pain to get the information.

Re:Health & Safety
Ok than would I have to pay for this particular unit since I have already paid for the Intermediate Level.
Oh would the college allow me to attend this Unit in the foundation class.0 -
Re:Health & Safety
I wouldn't have thought you'd have to pay extra. At my college the fee was the same for us all. I think most distance learning providers charge on a per unit basis though.
My classmates who hadn't done Foundation were taught H&S and WWC as part of the Intermediate course while the rest of us had the time off. I imagine there would be similar arrangements at most colleges, you almost certainly won't be the only one in your class who hasn't done these units and the teaching should be organised on that assumption

Re:Health & Safety
I have just done foundation and found the WWC and health and saftey fairly straight forward. The acheieving personal effectiveness was the one that gave me the most hassle as I found it hard to get the info i needed0 -
