Hi there I have just finished my AAT and will soon receive my full membership status.

I wondered if I was to provide services to soletraders paratnerships and ltd's what am I actually qualified (allowed) to do? ie vat returns, companies house returns, signing of of monthly/annual accounts etc etc,

and also if i did go down this route what services would I not beable to provide which must be done by a Chartered Accountant?

Thanks in advance

    Re:AAT member services

You can do everything (including making the tea!) except for audit, insolvency and financial services.

One big proviso, is that you can only take on stuff that you feel competent to undertake.

There have been lots of posts previously about the requirements - MIP, PII, registering as s/e etc - have a trawl through the search button

Good luck - it is a lot of fun and you still carrying on learning :D

I agree with Claudia. I am really enjoying my self employment and would never want to return to full time work. I am still working part time until I have built up a decent client base and as Claudia said, you never stop learning.

    Good luck :D

As Claudia said 'competency' is the magic word.

Only offer services you know you are capable of providing.

You will find that as you develop and continue to learn your areas of competence will expand.
