Diploma Pathway Students

Hi Everyone,

I recently started the AAT Certificate via Distance Learning with Premier (so far, so good!) and I was wondering if there are any others out there doing the Diploma route and how you're getting on with it. It seems to me that a lot of people are studying via NVQ.

Sometimes doing DL gets a bit lonely so all comments appreciated!

Tracey

PS. Well done to all who passed Tech / Cert yesterday - i must admit all your comments have motivated me to get my head into my books a bit more!

    Hi Tracey.

With the certificate being a relatively new qualification, there are more people doing NVQ, but feel free to ask any questions if you're unsure of anything. There's usually someone who knows the answer.

    Enjoy your studies :-)

    Scott.

    Cheers Scott,

I forgot that it's still quite new - that would explain why there's not as many students as the nvq route!

It's good to know there are people out there to help if needed.

    Hi there!

I have just passed the first paper within the Diploma pathway and am studying distance learning through FTC Kaplan.

I am really enjoying it and chose to do the diploma route as I have several years work experience behind me.

Luckily my hubby is being really supportive, but I do find studying a bit lonely sometimes. I just didn't have the time to commit to a taught course.

Hope to hear more from fellow Diploma students, maybe one day we will get our own message board?

    Sarah

    Hi there,

I am also studying distance learning through FTC Kaplan.
I find it a bit lonely and stressed as the time spent for watching tv or chatting with friends is now spent on studying.
But what matters is the support of your family, what you really want, Your hard work and positive thinking

    Thanks for your responses guys!

To be honest I don’t mind learning on my own, since I’m doing and paying for this off my own back there’s more than a little motivation not to fail!
Sometimes I miss the classroom / group interaction side of things eg.when you get a bit stuck and can’t get your head round something – it sometimes takes a bit longer to click into place and also I find that other people ask questions that I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of which can be quite useful. But I do prefer DL as you can study at home in your own time and not have to spend time travelling to a college or attend classes late in to the night….!

    Hi

I started the Foundation course via the Diploma route about 6 weeks ago. i am enjoying it so far but i too find it a bit lonely sometimes. It would be nice to be able to discuss any difficulties with likeminded people.
Are any of you working in an accounts related job? I am trying to find employment in this area but am finding it impossible as I don't have any experience and I can't get experience without a job.Is anyone else having this problem?
This is a career change for me and I naively assumed that it would be reasonably straightforward to get a job considering there are so many accounting type jobs out there.

    :?
look forward to talking to you all

hi tracey this is a complete career change for me too as i worked in the catering industry for two years previous to this. i was lucky as the company i now work for advertised for a trainee accountant and i applied for this. they have been brilliant in training me and helping me gain experience through this route. depending on your age i would suggest trying for a trainee job as i am also provided with all my materials for study and studying time within working hours. also working with qualified accountants is a great bonus as you have somebody on hand to help. :D

    Re:Diploma Pathway Students

    Hi

A little advice please, I was going to enrol in college to do the NVQ however, I'm not working in a finance industry and therefore have been advised that the Diploma Pathway is the best route.

My nearest college doing the Diploma pathway is quite far away and do not offer evening courses, which is no good to me.

I've found the distance learning courses and just wondered how easy or hard you are finding this and also if you complete all three stages can you still register as a full AAT member and are you still entitled to exemptions from the ACCA courses?

Many thanks in advance and I look forward to your replies!

    Thanks in advance.

I am studying through Eagle Education. They have a study buddy folder which is excellent, explains all the difficult things to learn in simple terms and you are also sent Osborne books with it too. I am doing the NVQ route but am in touch with others doing the Diploma through eagle as we are encouraged to keep in contact with other students too.
