Memo examples

I've been given some home work to do but I'm unsure how to tackle it & I cant find anything in the Unit 5 text book that could help either. Is there a format to how to create a "memo"? Here's what i'm having to do:
'Thank goodness I don't have to pay for the stock until 2006, so this extra cost will not show in the 2005 accounts' - write a memo to John explaining your understanding of this. Include the relevant FRS and explain both accounting concepts covered by this FRS.
Any examples out there? Or can I just write in a letter format to "John" ? Thanks

Re:Memo examples
Hi
You may find it useful to look through the answers to past papers for this unit. You can find them under assesments, past papers on this site.
Basically you can use the same format as for an e mail so don't worry about it too much.
Good luck.

Re:Memo examples
Hi,
A memo should be set out as follows
Should Include
oMemorandum (at the Top of the Page)
oTo
oFrom
oSubject
oDate
o At the end of the text alway sign off, eg AAT Student.
You will need to look at SSAP 9 - Stocks & Long Terms contracts
Hope this helps

Re:Memo examples
AAT geek's format is a good memo template to follow.
Memos are generally less formal than letters, as they're internal, rather than external documents. However, you should still avoid using slang or "text speak", but at the other end nor should it be too pompous and don't meander too much.
