    Hey there!

There is only one central exam at foundation level, the rest is skills tests.

    No worries!

Well I am doing NVQ route, but as far as I am aware there are still only 3 units for foundation and you should have a central exam for one unit (what is PLB on NVQ) and a mock and actual skills test for all 3 units.

well thats where i got confused.. instead of NVQ units 1,2,3 and then central on unit 3 with diploma there is unit 30 which covers all these in one!

which is why i was hoping to find out if i had to sit any other exams other than my central exam?

Just checked the student guide (page 9):

    http://www.aat.org.uk/servlet/file/stud guide.pdf?ITEM_ENT_ID=20839&COLLSPEC_ENT_ID=34

and it seems you do just have the 1 exam and no skills tests. Wow - lucky you - wish that was all I'd had to do! He he!

    Re:diploma exams

    Hi

I am also a Diploma student and I have just completed Certificate level.

I can confirm that you have one exam at this level (unit 30) and one skills test (unit31). However, the unit 31 skills test is split into three papers. Do not panic. One paper is a piss easy project about health and safety and computers and you complete it over a month. The second is all about VAT and stuff like that - 3hr skills test. The third paper you actually do on a computer by doing things like entering sales and purchase invoices and credit notes and printing statements. The computer one they give you 3hrs to do but it only takes about an 1hr. They are all really easy.

At advanced certificate you have two central exams, units 5 and 6. You also have units 15 and 32 as skills tests. The unit 6 exam is very straight forward and all about management accounts. The unit 5 exam is just a follow on from unit 30 at certificate level. I am currently studying for unit 5 and so far it is very easy. Fingers crossed it will stay that way. Unit 32 I have not idea what that is like yet. Beware of unit 15 though. Unit 15 is all about cash management and credit control. I found this tough because I did not know the first thing about investments. The credit control stuff is just common sence. Somehow I managed to pass this first time. I was amazed. It is a four hour skills test with tonnes of writing. That said, it is a very interesting unit.

Well good luck anyway. I am off now because I think I have a cold and I want to go to bed. Night night :D

    Re:diploma exams

    Hi!

I'm just finishing up studying for unit 31 and was wondering if someone could just tell me if I'm right in thinking that I don't need to put in via AAT for my skills test. Do I just let my college know when I want to do it?

Sorry to be a dunce, but just getting a bit confused.

Also, I'm doing Unit 32 at the mo. For anyone who has been working for a while it is VERY straight forward (maybe even a little patronising at times) e.g. discussions on what is an ethical decision and why!?!

    Thanks everyone,
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah

You are correct in thinking that you do not need to apply for your skills test through the AAT. These are completed purely via your college and then your college informs the AAT of your competency.
