    Hi Maryolajide,

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with DFS. Unfortunately, I don't have any notes or handouts to hand as I studied AAT year's ago now.

My advice to address the problems you are having would be to gain a full understanding of the core topics. From my understanding of how DFS is examined - group accounting features heavily as does knowledge of IAS's. The mistake a lot of students make is that they tend to try and learn every minute detail of each IAS therefore getting too bogged down - this is not necessary - you only need a basic knowledge of the fundmaentals of those IAS that are examinable only. You should find a list of examinable IAS's in the resources section.

I am not sure of your method of study, but from your post I suspect you are a home-student. If this is the case then maybe your tuition provider (if you are BPP or FTC) could give you a few pointers to gear you in the right direction. Unfortunately, I am not well-versed with the DFS syllabus as I am not a tutor.

The main thing to do as well is to prepare a revision plan. Count how many weeks there are to the exam, concentrate on core areas and practice as many examination style questions as you can in the last few weeks leading up to the exam. Don't forget you are also not on your own - there are countless numbers of other students in your position who will find DFS as equally difficult as you - they key is to get the basics sewn up.

Good luck with the rest of your studies.

    Kind regards
    Steve
