I have got a new contact at Sage who actually phones me back
Decided against both the bookkeepers and accountants club, but went for their new? product Client Manager which gives you a 25 company licence for £375.00 with support for 1st year thrown up - BUT - you dont have to renew the support - yippee.
I think that I am finally a happy bunny!

Re:Sage
Hi Claudia
I was told by someone that the Client Manager with 25 company licence was only available at that price if you were in the Accountants Club, but I guess you found someone who said differently?
Have they sent you the new Sage Line 50 2007 version? I'm still trying to get hold of my copy and I was told it was being sent at the beginning of September!!

Re:Sage
Apparently it is going out by whoever today.
Sage accountants club I was quoted at £350 with only a single company single user licence. Bookkeeper club was £350 for a 5 company licence and £510 for a 25 company.
As far as I can see I dont get to advertise on their website - cant say that upsets me at all

Re:Sage
It looks like you get a different deal depending on who you speak to at Sage. I'd be interested to know when you get the software because I chased mine up again on Tuesday and still haven't received it, yet I had been told previously that if you ordered something before 1.00 it would be with you the next day!!!0 -
Re:Sage
They are, as an organisation, particularly useless, but I do like their products - would love to bin them and use someone else, but......

Re:Sage
I'm going to start looking at other software before my Sage Accounting Club Membership runs out in March, but the problem is Sage will probably end up buying all the other companies out anyway! I've tried Tas when I worked at an Accountants and defintely prefer Sage.0 -
Re:Sage
You've got a good deal there Claudia. I also thought you could only but the client manager if you were an Accountnats Club member.
I'll be looking into ditching the club membership next time it is due.
I really think it's people like us who are prepared to stick to our guns to get what we want that persuade the people at Sage to relax their pricing policies. If you don't ask, you don't get.
Let's keep news of these good offers coming.

Sue
I hate to upset you but - my new Sage programme has just turned up
Now just got to install it, with techy help, as I still have a client on Windows 98 which the new programme doesnt support, so he is being kept on my old system!
Listen out for the screams

Re:Sage
Hi Claudia
Thanks for letting me know!!! If mine doesnt turn up today I am going to be screaming at Sage, because they've obviously got copies available if you've only just ordered yours!
I suspect part of the problem is they offered me a free upgrade if I bought version 12 and they probably thought I would forget!!
Does that mean you've also been told a way of having more than one copy of Sage on your computer?

Re:Sage
Hi Claudia
I've just sent a stroppy email to Sage. I've just had a telephone call from them inviting me to a seminar, when I said I had waited over a month for software to turn up and had no intention of looking at other software of theirs until they get this sorted, they passed me to a supervisor who obviously thought I'd hung up because he couldnt hear me, so was quite rude on the phone, he then put the phone down. I've sent an email to them complaining about him. Just as I sent the email he rang back and was being very persistent, so I ended up saying I was not prepared to talk to anyone else from Sage until my software turned up and said I was already looking at TAS and quickbooks, I apologised, said bye and hung up, he was still talking!!!
So I'll see what happens now!!

Re:Sage
When it does turn up make sure it is 13.1 as 13.0 has glitches that they have been sorting out - maybe this is why yours hasn't turned up.
Stick to your guns girl!

Re:Sage
Nothing has arrived today, not even an apology for their earlier telephone conversation!0 -
Re:Sage
I'm beginning to lose the will to live!!!
Some software turned up from Sage this morning but firstly they'd got the delivery address wrong, luckily the delivery driver knew the correct address which is about a mile away from the address Sage sent it to. Secondly instead of sending me the bureau version they've sent the club copy which I had already received and just to really rub it in they sent 2 copies, so I now have 3 club copies which I cant use and no bureau version.
I certainly won't be recommending Sage or my Account Manager again!!!0 -
Re:Sage
Sue - do not despair - the longer you wait, the less problems you will have with it  another fix is due to be sent out next week - it runs really really really slowly (as if your computer has frozen) and apparently  that is being sorted at the moment.
I spent over an hour on the phone to them today, cos in converting it had decided that on my invoices for one client to print them in triple spacing, so I only got 9 lines to the page

Claudia
From what you're saying it sounds like I'm better off without it!!
I have emailed my Account Manager and he said they had been out or stock of the Bureau version for a while, so I told him I knew someone that had ordered it on Thursday and received it on Friday and also got it a lot cheaper than I did as a member of the Accountants club. He asked for your details, but I told him that you had spoken to me in confidence so I couldnt tell him!
He's promised me the software for this week, but then he also promised it last week so I don't actually believe him anymore!

Re:Sage
A couple of months ago we had a guy from sage demonstrating their new practice software - even their demonstration copy had faults with it!
As they get bigger, they seem to be getting into a bigger mess!
I like Sage, but we binned them off and carried on with our current accounts software.
Good luck0 -
Re:Sage
I am considering moving away from Sage, especially with the problems I'm having at the moment, but the thing is I owe them quite a lot of money, Interest free, so I don't want to push my luck too far because I can't afford to pay it back in one go at the moment!!0 -
Re:Sage
Waiting a couple of weeks might be worthwhile in the end - then maybe most of the bugs will have been ironed out of it - surely they must have done beta testing
The accountants club seemed pointless for me - just straight 25 companies and no frills - or software that I dont want and will never use!
They will get there finally - probably!

Re:Sage
Finally I have the answer!!!
Having complained to Customer Services about the way I was being treated I have had a call from them today!!
Firstly, they apologised for the person that was rude on the phone, they said he had been taken off of that task (I don't believe them, but at least they called and apologised).
Secondly, they have told me the CD is the same for Line 50 whatever, it is the Serial number and activation key that determines which version you use, which means that the three CD's they have so far sent me for the Accountants club can also be used for the bureau version. All you have to do once you have installed it is register online for a new activation key!!!!
I have questioned why my Account Manager couldnt have told me that!!!
