Double Entry

Hello

Does anybody have any tips on double entry? It does not seem to be sinking in and is effecting the rest of my studying because i seem to hit a brick wall when it comes to double entry.

    The only thing I can suggest is practice, practice, practice..

    Do as many questions as you can (Frank Woods is particularly good for this) and soon it will click in.

    I remember a tutor saying that it takes ages for it to sink in and I thought I'm intelligent enough, I'll get it but she was right!!

    However if you do enough practice, it becomes second nature and it really is worth getting this off automatically as it forms the basis of every paper you do subsequently.

    Very ture! It also forms the basis of everything you do in working practice too. Well worth putting the extra time in at this stage. :)

    Then start from the beginning again. I always found the best one to get in my head was the bank in on the left, out on the right as most things are then easy to work out.

    If you can get a Frank Woods book (they'll be cheap on ebay and for double entry you don't need the latest version) they start you off really gradually and then add more bits on with plenty of practice along the way.

    I agree with bluewednesday on this. I've been doing some revision prior to starting CIMA next year and use T accounts - starting with the bank!
