whats the easiest and hardest exam on the technician stage?

Hi All

i have just booked my PEV unit 08 for tech stage and im shizzering myself cause im having trouble remembering all the variances :(

anyway i was just wondering whats the easiest and hardest exam on the technician stage?

    Hi there,

    Don't worry about it, everyone gets per'exam nerves! I thought PCR was the easiest exam, but I've failed it twice! I passed PTC and PEV first time, so I guess they were 'easiest' (nothing on Tech is easy!).
    DFS is most definitely the hardest as there is so much to cover and my college always does it at December, so I think it is a lot to cram in.

    Hi

    I found DFS the hardest and then came PEV/PCR. All the units have there challenges, but you might find the following some use for remembering variances:-
    "PURE AS" (or "Pure as as" as it reads) method for materials and labour: -

    same each time

    Price (material) standard - actual x Actual
    Useage (material) standard - actual x Standard
    Rate (labour) standard - actual x Actual
    Efficiency (labour) standard - actual x Standard

    and for Overhead variances : -

    ABC (the alphabet) Actual - Budget x absorb rate = Capacity
    SAE (Stamped addressed envelope) Standard - Actual x absorp rate = Efficiency
    SBV (Silly bloody variances) Standard - Budget x absorb rate = Volume

    I found silly rhymes for things like these make them easier to remember.

    many thanks, your "silly rhymes" may have just got me out of the kak! Can't think of a better way to learn the variances, I am getting them all right now with this method.

    I found DFS the hardest and Business Tax the easiest. I will agree though that all the units are hard at Technician stage.

    I think you may have just helped me to pass my exam with your rhyming tool. For some reason couldn't get this whole thing with variances in my head. So you're a life saver. Want to finish everything for June, so can't afford any re-sits. THANKS :D

    I'm finding Business Tax hard!!! Just soo much information,etc,etc ...aaggghhhh...lol...

    Glad its not just me not liking business tax. Taking Personal Tax and Business Tax at the same time.

    I'm taking DFS & BTC this December. BTC has got me all stressed up..DFS seems quite related to FRA, PEV and PCR (ratios).

    For me, the hardest exam is always the next exam.

    But the easiest exam is not necessarily the last one I passed!
