DFS consolidated group accounts

Hello,
I just came across the following question:
"Explain the circumstances in which the acounts of a subsidiary company need not be consolidated into the group accounts?"
Any ideas anybody?

    hi, can you explain this topic for me, i have been reading it for 2 weeks but yet do not have a clue to it.

    Please help will sit for exam in dec. and no revision centre near me.

    Are you referring to consolidation exemptions or consolidations in general? If it is the latter then we may struggle explaining it (even in the briefest of terms) by a thread as Consolidated Accounts is so vast.

    You say you have been studying it for two weeks but don't have a clue about it. Two weeks is nowhere near enough time to understand Consolidated Balance Sheets/Income Statements so I think you are being rather over optimistic in expecting to understand the subject within this timescale.

    Maybe you should speak to your tutor about your difficulties but just see how you go in the next couple of weeks - the basics should start to sink in by then.
