Charity Accounts - good area to target?

Just wondered whether many MIPs have targeted charities as potential clients? I recently did an AAT mastercourse on charity accounting and the lecturer recommended charities as a potential growth area for new clients. I have joined the Association of Charitable Independent Examiners as an Associate member, with a view to becoming a full member after obtaining some experience in charity accounts.

Re:Charity Accounts
Could you give me contact details for the Independent Examiners organisation for charity accounts. Also was the mastercourse good value and informative - If you have any handouts from the course I would be interested, that's if you don't mind. I haven't actually attended any of the mastercourses yet but from the details on the web they look quite good value.

The Charity course was very informative and the speaker, Sarah Smith, was excellent. I am the treasurer of my local nursery, which is a charity, and I went on the course just to gain a better understanding of how to prepare charity accounts. However I left the course realising that there are very few accountants with official Charity Independent Examiner status and thought that it may be a good area to target for potential clients.

Their website is very good and you can actually download membership forms etc. Anyone can join as an Associate member, but then to become a Full member you need to have prepared at least two sets of charity accounts and also be able to provide a reference.
I will attempt to scan and email my course notes to you in the next day or so.0 -

Very many thanks, especially for the course notes coming in the next few days. When I attend a mastercourse I will pass any handouts through the forum to other interested members.
I have told my local chamber of commerce that I would do accounts etc for local charities/disabled organisations at cost only, ie free as a contribution to the local community. Lets hope I don't get inundated with too many organisations - a couple would be fine.0 -

Re:Charity Accounts - good area to target?
Debbie, the course was held in Leeds at the end of September. I would be happy to send you a copy of the course notes if you email me your address or provide a fax number and I will fax the notes to you.0 -
