Professional Cover

Hi all,
I am renewing my Members in Practice and as a result of the AAT withdrawing the registered status, I now need professional cover.
I have a few clients and work from home on a part time basis, I am based in Blackburn Lancashire.
Would anyone be willing to act as my professional cover? - I would be willing to reciprocate if necessary.
My email address is e-king@hotmail.co.uk

Re:Professional Cover
I didn't realise that the 'Registered' status was being withdrawn. Do you have to be 'Licensed' now then? If so, does your annual T/O still have to exceed £5,000?
Emma, are you looking for cover within your immediate area? I am based in Northumberland and don't know how practical it would be for me to act as your cover.0 -
Re:Professional Cover
Hi Paul,
All MIPs now need to be licensed. However if your turnover is less than 5k you are entitled to pay the reduced licence fee of £37.
The AAT are phasing out the registered status and it should no longer exist by the end of 2007. I wasn't aware if this either until I received my renewal through the post - which has to be returned by the end of the month.
Ideally - from a practical point of view it would be easier to have cover locally, however as I understand it the AAT have not put any geographical restraints on this!0 -
Re:Professional Cover
Thanks for posting Emma, I wasn't aware of this either.
I suppose I will hear when my subs are due in March 07.

Do you still have to have a T/O of £5,000+ to be eligible to use the AAT logo on your stationery etc?0 -
Re:Professional Cover
I don't think turnover comes into it...
On the fact sheet that the AAT sent to me, it states that when the renewal application is approved, you will be issued with a licence to practice, be entitled to use the AAT's logo and specific wording on stationery.
The only mention of turnover - is in recognising members with a low income and hence the reduced licence fee.
The way I see it is that currently registered members will be getting more for their fees.0 -

Excellent news - thanks for the clarification Emma.0
