Re:exam pass rate
Generally it's 60% but depending on how many people pass and by what percentage they change it0 -
Re:exam pass rate
Hi Manda.
There is NO set pass rate - it will change for each exam, and be influenced by the overall performance of the candidates sitting.

I was told it was 94%! but maybe its my tutor trying to push us?!0 -
Re:exam pass rate
Hi
Is this for PLB? our tutor told us we had to be 100% competent and to answer every question ....because if you miss one out then you will fail as you will look to be incompetent!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Re:exam pass rate
While technically you do need to be 100% competent, this is not the same as answering every question 100% correctly. You should, however, still attempt every question as you might pick up some marks, not answering will always get you nothing.
By the same token, you shown always show your workings - if you make a mistake in calculation you'll still pick up the majority of the marks if your workings are correct. An incorrect answer with no workings will get nothing.
As Scotty said, there is no fixed pass mark as the AAT will adjust this depending on the overall performance on a given paper - thus compensating for unusually hard or easy papers. June 2004's PTC exam which I've just done was horrendous and widely complained about - normalising the pass mark stops such 'mistakes' from penalising any students in a given year.

Re:exam pass rate
As previously stated, I queried with AAT themselves, for both PLB and IAC:-
"Dear Nigel
First, I must apologise for the time it's taken me to reply to you. We
are very busy, as ever, in the build up to exams week!
You are quite right to say that students need to prove their competency
in both sections of the paper. However, there is no set pass level for
any one unit or any one sitting - it varies. The competency levels are
discussed, and provisionally set, at our Exam Panels, which usually take
place at least a year before the actual exams, but they are not
finalised until the Exam Review Panels meet after all the marking has
been done. In other words, there is a bit of leeway here and the
competency levels can be adjusted according to students' performance.
I hope that answers your question, but if not, don't hesitate to get
back to me.
Yours sincerely
Elizabeth

Thus, confirming what Scotty and CJC have said.
So - do the best that you can!
