DFS - help with theory required!!!

Hi

I will be sitting the DFS diploma exam in December and am slightly confused with the theory side of things!

I bought the NVQ Osborne tutorial book off a friend but this does not have all the uptodate accounting standards that I need. Or it has the right ones with old numbers not the IAS number

Does anyone have any decent notes I could look at? I'm very confused!!!

    There is an up to date IAS osbourne book - you must have the old standards. You can get it off their website or amazon may be faster. It has good notes on the standards.

    Are you using the UK standards book? (FRS's and SSAP's)

    If so you really need to get an up to date book as the IAS are different in parts.

    Yes I am using the old books which don't make sense compared to what I'm being taught!

    I will see how quickly I can get a new book - can't believe how much there is to learn :s

    Must agree the amount you have to learn for DFS is major , and as for remembering all the standards , dont even ask !!

    For the IAS's. Just list them down on one sheet of A4 and stick it on your wall, dont worry too much about the theory behind it, just write IAS2 - Inventories and so on..Then memorise it until you can repeat them back in your sleep. Dont LEARN, just MEMORISE.

    Anyone can memorise 25-30 or so words and numbers... Once you know them then start to read a bit more into the theory behind them.

    Half of the problem in the exam is not remembering the IAS number and title.. once you get that down then the theory will follow...

    I've sent the notes to everyone who's asked. Hope they help.

    Please note that the incomplete more detailed notes have been taken from the osbourne booked and are no way my own work.
