DFS June 05 question 1.4

Hi

I am stuck on a question on the DFS June 05 exam.

1.4 is about calculating investment in an associate - I don't remember being taught this before and am struggling to follow the answers

Does anyone know if this is a topic off the old standards? Or is it something I need to get my head around?!
