Compulsory CPD

Hi All
I know the student's general forum isn't really the place for this, but it seems that more people (inc full members) look here, so i've posted here too.
What are peoples opinions on compulsory CPD? I'd particularly like to know:
In principle I support the CPD requirements and I think it is probably the biggest thing the AAT has done in recent years to increase its proffesional standing/that of members, which of course can only be a good thing.
I do however have a few reservations on the AAT's survey. I would have expected perhaps a longer period and a wider range of information gathering. I was intially happy to be selected for a follow up telephone interview only to be disapointed when I found out that they would only conduct it during office hours, despite the fact most professionals work. The AAT have traditional been quite transparent, but not so much in this case, I also think a final vote would have been a bit more democratic.
Thanks
Neil

-
a) peoples opinions on CPD in principle (i.e. putting the new AAT requirements aside)
-
b) your thoughts on the new policy in general
-
c) thoughts and opinions on the survey conducted by the AAT

Re:Compulsory CPD
I'm all for CPD compulsory or otherwise. These days it's so important to keep up to date and the rules and regs change so frequently.
I quite like the new policy as it is on quality rather than quantity. I know from other acountants some only do their cpd to fulfill their obligations hours wise rather than actually getting something out of it.
I can't comment on the survey as it was sent out before I became a full member, although I thought from previous postings they asked for a wide range of comments / opinions.

Re:Compulsory CPD
I am for compulsory CPD in principle, but I am struggling with how you measure the CPD and its effectivness. I find the majority of AAT CPD/branch meetings heavily slanted to members who work in practise I work for a large international company and struggle to find anything relevant.0
