Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
What did everyone put as their comments for the 'brief'memo in section 2 re: the performance ratios we calculated.I went blank!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I did the Y=a+bx slightly different but only by 0.02p difference compared to your calculations???
the rest I did exactly the same.
Hopefully that 0.02 will not make too much difference as soo close to your answers. well who knows and lets hope and pray.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hi,
Ideal standards are when everything is perfect and there is no wastage. The down side is that it it is virtually impossible to achieve and it lowers staff morale.

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I worked it out as Last trend - earlier trend divided by number of months. Looks Like I am 0.20 difference compared to the rest of you.
And then that seemed to follow on nicely also, now I am confused. OOps. not sure anymore?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
that is what I said.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
when I referr to what I said is to the ideal standards.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I have to admitt I wasted alot of time looking for additonal material in section 2 question which did not make sense, the only bit that did was when they mentioned options. which was asked in a question earlier on in the tasks for renting or purchasing of new machinery. that was the only thing i could think off but now maybe I have it all wrong? :oops:0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
To intensify at least you got stopped and got told this. I did not have the pleasure.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Good, bad or ugly - can I just say how good it is to be able to share our stories?
I have no-one I can talk to that knows what ROCE, Overhead Variances and PEV etc are.
Everyone just keeps glazing over and saying, "Oh well, that's it then" - which it might be, but it's not the whole story!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Did anyone else get รยฃ168000 and รยฃ200500 for the rent of machinery and purchase of machinery in Section 2?.
What figures did anyone get for the last setion 2.3? I had no idea what to do for that section.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hya
Would just like to agree with Helen. Came home this evening a bit dejected as I struggled with the exam today but reading 'fellow sufferers' comments I dont feel as bad or should I say thick. Its been a great help - all we can do now is wait for the results! oh yes and sit another exam on Thursday!
Thanks

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hi I'm really stressed after todays PEV exam. Worked really hard (didn't want to have to re-sit).
Thought the paper was really confusing and didn't really explain what was required on a number of the questions especially section 2!
I used Novembers Net assets as had no idea what else to use and thought it was best to write something and, as for Lifecycle costing, well i've never heard of it!
Thought it was a badly written paper, that was quite different from previous ones apart from section 1.
feeling a bit better after reading everyone elses comments although that wont help me pass!

Task 2.3 ...I don't know if this is right, but for the lifetime costing, I got that after the saving of รยฃ12,600,000 labour over the 10 years, and taking into account all the extra costs
Renting รยฃ6,000,000 saving and
purchase รยฃ9,900,000 saving
Does anyone else agree0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
No. I assumed that life cycle costing was looking at the cost of the product over it's 10 year life. I worked out the maintenance cost each year etc, and for rent, the rent each month for 10 years.
Feeling really dejected now. Came out of exam thinking I'd done okay but now - my gut instinct is telling me I failed!!!

I did the same as Amanda!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I applied the same method as you too!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Did you include de-commisioning cost for both purchasing and rental? I was working on the idea that even if it's rented, there is still a cost onvolved in uninstalling the machine. I didn't include depreciation for purchasing. Should I have?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Yes, totally agree with Amanda on that too.

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I got the same as you both (HanW and BaggyBrooks) for the aviation fuel prices. Least it looks as though I got something right! It's the P&L and Net Asset revision that I really struggled on. As we as calculating the Life Cycle Costs for Rent & Purchase. Explained LCC just couldn't then calculate it. Really do believe that I have failed, but what more can be done now. Least we have our health! Guess I just need to focus now on PCR. Oh dear!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I might have passed yet! Hope so. Couldn't face another re-sit. Very concerned about task 2.2 though. Too late now though. We get our results 11 weeks tomorrow and counting!!! I just want to know.
It's bad that they have cocked up this year giving the fact they cocked up marking last years pcr exam.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Fingers crossed for you Amanda - I hope you have. I haven't got a hope in hell - boo hoo! Section 1 was pretty much fine. In section 2 I probably got 2 questions right - which was simply to describe lifestyle costing and also describe Ideal standards - thats it! Doubt that is enough to pass!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hi
Just sat today's PEV, what a nightmare.
* Noise outside the classroom at London Bridge, complained to the tutor several times. This didn't help.
* The tutor we had was useless didn't cover the subjects probably  .
* Revision tutor was excellent and if I pass it is all down to him.
* Did anyone cover Life cycle in the classroom, never heard of it before, therefore fingers crossed on this.
* I express how much time wasted looking at page 6 and then couldn't decide which figures to use, September, October or perhaps November. Anyway took November figures.
Not looking forward to 20th February as this is my second attempt. Been throught papers backwards and forwards and felt very confident this morning.
Wasted time on TQM - Balance Scored - ABC Costing - Sub Division on variances.
Well good luck to everyone, perhaps they will re access the examiner, lets hope.
Regards

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I wasted time on those areas too. Did a couple of practise questions for LCC, but only very straightforward scenarios, nothing like what we faced today - completely through me. In fact the whole of bloody Sec 2 did!
Best of luck to you - and everyone else!
Better go revise for PCR now! x0
