Re:DFS TOMORROW
Yes, I'm dreading DFS, it's my 1st re-take and with the new standards.
I also have PCR on Thursday and that's it!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
Join me to the club.
I think it is too close to the exam to admit there are too many standards and i have lost any confidence i may have had.
This has got to be the hardest of all of the exams with out doubt!!
Every one keeps saying to me 'you'll be fine' but that makes me feel worse because i have struggled ten times as much with this one compared to the others!
You are not alone!!!

My husband bless him keeps saying youll be fine, and i do think oh my god I WONT!!!
well positive thinking, i even got my worry dolls out last nite and put them under the pillow,
see what i have resorted to ha ha
well if it works!!!

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Im taking dfs tomorrow as well. I feel really prepared and have spent 2 solid weeks going over everything! i think the best thing to calm nerves is to get a good sleep tonight, ill be hitting the sack at around 9 oclock then gonna wake up early and briefly go over things. good luck to all.0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
I don't think I'll be able to sleep with nerves. I just hope it's not the same person who wrote the paper as Monday!!!
Good luck to everyone!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
why was mondays really bad? dont say that to me now ha ha i am having memory blocks already lol0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
Mondays was horrible. Honestly read some of the threads on the 'PEV Todays exam' post. I just hope it was a different person who wrote Wed and Thu exam. I think it will have to be lucky pants and socks tomorrow.0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW

Good Luck everyone!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
I defo feel like that today, dont know if i am making myself worse with it.
Could have done with an extra week i think for more revision, i feel like i havent learnt anything.
Is this a resit for you or a the first attempt?
You will have to let me know if you survive tomorrow, have you done BTC today?0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
God i thought my 45min was bad stacey, plently of sleep tonite for you, good luck0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
I m hoping this will be the last journey - lets hope it goes well!!!!!
Just a few tips guys...
Get plenty of sleep tonight
Pack your pens, pencils, calculater, Photo ID etc tonight so you don't need to worry.
Double check it in the morning :-)
Make sure you have breakfast
Leave in plenty of time (it better to have 30 mins extra revision in the car park than to dash into the buiding with minutes to spare!)
And once it is over - you can't change anything so relax and get ready for Xmas (Unless you have another exam at the end of the week!)

Re:DFS TOMORROW
if that question was for me earlier this is my first attempt, and I hadn't picked up a book till start of Nov for PEV, DFS or PCR, so if I passed I'll be over the moon, I took PTC and BTC last June along with FRA and ECR and passed them. I just can't think today, hopefully brain will function again for tomorrow, lol. The day of my exams I just can't stomach breakfast for nerves.0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
i am so nervous about tomorrow, im glad im not the only one that thinks DFS is a complete pig of a paper, its the only one i have failed so far so this is a re-take from last December...i couldnt beleive how much the layout ect has changed...hopefully they will be lenient with the marking!! we can only hope, if your reading this exam markers...please be nice!!!
pretty pretty please! 0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
God your as bad as me Kay, i am doing DFS, PCR and PTC, last june (05) i did BTC and PEV lost the plot completely thought id fail PTC so i didnt sit, How i deeply regret it now seeing as i can do tax so well and passed BTC which is harder i think.
It will be a defo no breakfast for me either feeling sicky thinking about it. I am so dramatic lol
Good luck kay * stacey keep me posted how you get on

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Yeh i will keep you posted.
I think the worst thing is that we have no idea of the pass mark other than the fact you have to pass both of the sections.
At least if you knew you could mark yourself and know whether you are 60%,70%,80% correct and then if that is 'safe'.
I really do wish you all good luck.

Re:DFS TOMORROW
i dont think they have pass percentages, i was told that it depends wht you get wrong. if it is something fundemental then it would be seen as a major and may fail the whole paper...but i think you can have quite alot of the minor stuff missed and get away with it. dont quote me on it but i think that is why they do not have pass percentage.
god im nervous i hope the exam is structured along the same lines as june 06...that one seemed ok!

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Hi everyone
I'm glad its not just me suffering from last minute nerves! I am ok with the statements its still the theory I don't know yet.
If we get the practical side right but struggle with the theory will we pass still?
I'm halfway through learning the IAS/IFRS - haven't even started on the framework yet.
Starting to think I've left it a bit late!!!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
angela that is so me trying to memorise them tonite, i have defo left it tooooooooo late lol0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
i'm up to IAS 38 nothing is going in tho help me!!!!!!!!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
Hey!
Don't worry i am sat here right now with my Fiancee reading flash cards to me (on a T break).
I can do all of the 'numerical' questions with only a few small errors
I can remember the standard numbers & names (absoulutly standard overload on the theory tho).
I can manage the ratios.
I am so worried.
I really should have started revising weeks ago.

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Looking through the past papers, there doesnt seem too much theory, i mean there is a bit but doubt if you make a complete mess of it that you would fail! I mean i'm sure even those who havent revised can write a bit on theory and get away with it and just make sure numericals are almost perfect. Well that's what I'm tryin

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Yeah i'm ok on the numerical parts - just did my final practice paper and everything balanced. That hasn't happened before so its gotta be a good sign!
I would say I know about three quarters of the standards - I know enough to write something so I'm sure that will be ok.
Need to look at statement of recognised income and expense, theory behind cash flow statements and framework of accounting then i'm done.
It could be a long night!!!
PS i used the same method as you stacey and it worked!!0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
Hi guys,
I promised to let you know how i did.
I found section 1 ok, my balance sheet and cash flow balanced. Section 2 task 1 i wasn't very good at remembered the ratios except the 1st one, never seen that before, rambled on through the letter (don't think i will gain manu points on this).
The second task i think i did ok.
The question on the impairment of assets think i had a blank moment and wrote nothing of any importance!
Couldn't look at the site yesterday, had a look now and read the other post and just hope i did enough.
Good luck everyone especially angela and harper, hope you have a fantastic christmas and new year, i expect i will speak to you next feb if not before.
Thanks for your help & support

Re:DFS TOMORROW
Lol meant the last ratio - the net asset/capital employed one!
0 -
Re:DFS TOMORROW
Hi Stacey!!
I was the same as you on the last ratio - could just about remember the formula I had learnt but didn't remember seeing the capital employed one - apparently its not in the osborne book.
think i swapped the wrong part of it for capital employed....nevermind
my cash flow statement and balance sheet balanced. was so glad with the ias 36 qu its one of the few IASs i had learnt in detail.
and my late night cramming of the framework helped - i could define assets, liabilities and equity but couldn't really answer the first part i guess (incorrectly)!
Time to chill out now for a bit...but got the project to do before next exams
Have you started yours yet?
Have a good christmas!!
