Regarding which part of the syllabus?

Re:PCR Exam
Blabber on as much as possible!
Personally before starting any written question (memo, e-mail, etc) I generally write down the points I want to make first on the question paper next to the question. The reason I do this is it just ensures I get every point across I feel I need to make whilst also giving my answers a better layout and read.
For example on the June 06 exam, Task 2.2, question (a). I've just got next to it:
what is a budget
objectives of a budget

Re:PCR Exam
Our lecturer seemed to want us to revise capital budgets.
So there is something to look at

Re:PCR Exam
Haven't seen or read much about capital budgets at all so I hope that doesn't come up. Though basing on AAT's BTC paper anything is possible!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
Its just explaining the difference between planning for capital exp, and operating exp I suppose.

Re:PCR Exam

Re:PCR Exam
Im confident with the production budget etc and flexed budget. But when it comes to the wordy questions i cant explain myself very well!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
Well if you can do all your calculations ok, then thats a damn good start, Im sure you could pick up some marks explaining things

Re:PCR Exam
This is really sad but i like the calculation bits! I just get stuck on how to explain what iv just done! Hopefully i can get a few points in and keep my fingers crossed!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
Try and picture why you are doing it. If you was running a company and you had budgets prepared for you, what use would they give you? What information would you require to run the business better?
I have to admit I'm quite similar though, I can do the calculations part fairly easy (and prefer that) but even in the text books I can never be bothered reading or remembering the text. It's probably because it's just boring!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
It never seems to go in! Read it over and over again but doesnt go in like the calcualtions do! You can practice the calculations but the wordy bit you just dont know what they will ask!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
I'll be honest here's what I'll be going into the exam with, whether it's enough is anyones guess (I have done A Level Business Studies though so I can blabber on about things..):
- what is a budget
- advantages/objectives of a budget
- limiting factors
- types of budget
- trend analysis
The rest I can't remember at this point but that's basically it I guess. You'll probably surprise yourself in the exam anyway and think of all sorts.
I do recommend the BPP's passcards though, shame I haven't got one for PCR!0 -
Re:PCR Exam
I was looking through my text book at lunchtime today and seasonal variations caught my eye when I wasn't expecting it! So now I think they'll be in there! Not a big area but neither is life cycle costing.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Re:PCR Exam
I mentioned seasonal variation in one of the PEV questions if I recall correctly!!

Re:PCR Exam
I don't think capital budgets will come up again so soon.0 -
Re:PCR Exam
Apparently in the June 06 report it said that "capital budgets" was really poorly answered and will definately need testing again.0 -
