BTC Exam - Feeling Let Down

Unfortunately for most of the students at the college I attended the lecturer failed to tell us the difference between limited companies and sole traders/partnerships when dealing with longer accounting periods relating to capital allowances and he also didn't tell us how to calculate basis periods that cover more than a 12 month period. This is very disappointing because apart from these two questions everything else in the paper went very well. However, due to these two questions being in the same section of the paper I wouldn't be surprised if we all failed. I am so disappointed as I have worked for hours and hours and knew everything I had been taught inside out. In fact I am that annoyed I feel like complaining to the college however this is not going to get me anywhere with the AAT result. Its not their fault that the teaching is not up to standard and assumptions have been made that just because 12 month periods had been used in all the last five exam papers that was all we needed to know. Was anybody else taught this difference between limited companies and sole traders/partners relating to more than a 12 month period. I have now found this in the Business Tax book however it is such an important point you would have thought that the lecturer would have emphasised it more. :(

We were in the same position. I studied long and hard for that BTC exam and what a shock it was when i opened the booklet.

Out lecturer never mentioned long accouting periods for sole traders/partnerships either.

I will more that likely have to resit this paper next year and i've passed them all so far so i'm a bit gutted.

I am sorry to hear that you are in the same position. How did you calculate your first question relating to capial allowances? Did you manage to do the basis periods okay? I am also gutted as this could possibly be my first failure as well.
