How detailed do mileage logs need to be?

I've got a client here who mows people's lawns for a living.
Every week he (meticulously) notes the opening & closing milage of his van in a little book. He only uses the van for work and also keeps a diary of each and every customer he visits every day. He obviously goes to a different area every day and mows all the lawns in that area, so he's not just doing a simple trip there and back, he's driving round the houses all day.
Do you think that based on that info it'll be alright for him to claim 40p per mile travelled?

40p for the first 10,000 miles and then it reduces to 25p - unless he's putting any motoring expenses in his books.0 -

Re:How detailed do mileage logs need to be?
thanks - i know that he can claim the 40p per mile & then it reduces, it's just that 'normal' mileage logs say 'Journey from A to B 10 miles return, claimed £4' whereas this guy has 'mileage monday morning = 7000 miles, travelled to and around town x on monday, village b on tuesday etc.. , mileage friday evening = 7200 miles' Is it alright to claim £80 (200 miles at 40p per mile) for the week?
