Ah I see, I've never seen any of the NVQ tests/papers.

    Exam papers

I also see it from the perspective of future 'auditors'. You would need to piece together all the bits to fit the jigsaw puzzle. Subtracting, comparing %ratios of expenditure to find where the company is hiding things, etc. So I see it as practice at solving problems. I think you have this sort of thing in FRA and possibly ECR.

If I was an examiner then I would give credit for problem-solving...

... or they could simply ignore candidates' answers for this question (2.8 ) completely, and simply mark everything else...

    Re:PLB Exam

That's interesting, I do find it pretty confusing understanding all the various elements that together make up the different routes through our course.

It would be very unfair to simply disregard answers to #2.8 in the IAC. Because in this case people who did not notice the error/s would lose nothing and lost no time. And those who did spot the errors would have gained nothing and most likely lost time in struggling to some form of answer as well.

They seem to like to put something unexpected in each exam, but it took me quite a bit of time to conclude, and then have the courage to write down that the items in their question were all reversed and in error. It is certainly not what you expect!

Anyway, I'm sure they'll tell us in due course.

    Hi everyone
No-one has yet mentioned the sales ledger balances being on the wrong side. On one particular question all the invoices were listed on the credit side as was the opening balance. Am I going mad, or was that a trick? Will probably fail due to the amount of tippex used on the nice blue paper. Whoops!

Lol.. story of my life. I smothered my papers with tipex after confusing myself over the subsiduary sales ledger... then as i get up to walk out of exam (only 5 people in examination room with me) i pick the tippex bottle up and due to my hands sweating from 2 hours of constant writing, the tippex bottle flies out my my hands as i try to twist the lid back on, spraying an enourmous ammount of tippex all over the freshly laid carpet, aswell as covering my jeans and gently splashing the invigilator innocently sat infront of me... i think ill fail. In conclusion to my mishap... i think i will fail.

    Genie -

Have you filled in the online survey?

Have you emailed the exams group with your queries and worries? (There's an email at the end of the survey. I'll try and find it, if you don't have it. DIirect approach is usually the best...)

    email them
    examfeedback@aat.org.uk

May I also remind viewers, that this thread started out as NVQ exam discussion, thus attempting to prevent any further confusions...

(The IAC discussion is at 'Exam' thread.)

And with benefit of experience - Life is not always fair! You have to decide if you will be fair and honourable in your dealings, despite the rest of the world having their own agendas...

It only occurred in the IAC exam (thread 'Exam' for IAC exam...)

Thanks Toadface. I did read your post before (promise :D !) but didn't pick up on this.

And, crev - that's another reason I don't use tippex...

    Re:PLB Exam

Ok thanks Toadface, I'll restrict chat about the exam on this thread.

p.s. Re: the survey, I want to give feedback, but do not feel able to comment on the specific questions (as is required) without the paper for reference. So next week some time it seems.

(I'm a bit mystified by how some people can remember all the questions by number alone, in order to comment on them now!).

If the AAT have not addressed the IAC issue in the next few days, I will e-mail them...

It's not a problem, if you want to discuss the IAC - I just feel that we should make it clear to everyone, so we don't have any more people panicking!

    Eh? Bryony?

    Cheers, hh99

Sorry to alarm you Bryony. It was the IAC exam. Not PLB. Bit worrying that I don't even know which exam I sat!

    Eh? Bryony?

 I'll second that!!! I just got really confused - my trial nalance balanced, and I was wondering "How could I have done that when the exam paper was the wrong way round!?"

And, yes, I am doing the NVQ route.
    Sorry to alarm you Bryony.
No problem. It was short lived. :)

So, how do you think you did?

Well, thank you. I feel really confident about it. I know that is probably not a good sign, but I have a really good feeling.

As to next summer... well... I read your intentions to do the next exams then somewhere else, and I have to say - you inspired me. I just don't think if I wait around till Dec next year for the exams that I will be happy. I have all but finished foundation, so I intend to apply straight away. I spoke to my tutor this morning, and he certainly seemed to think it was a goer. I have a lot of momentum, and I don't want to waste it by hanging around. I started foundation in July, so I know what hard work is!!! :)

    Re:PLB Exam

I'm also doing it for the challenge, for the extra early attempt, for a more direct-focused target, for short-term momentum, and a host of other reasons...

It just seems a better approach... It 'feels' right.

I intend to do similar for all of my exams... Taking advantage of every exam sitting.

I think we should invent a new word...

'read' for having read in the past.

'read' for currently reading... I had to read your sentence twice...

Maybe i'm just getting old... 8)

I'm a distance learner as I have a business to run but I hope to do the FRA and ECR next June. If it gets too much I shall do one in June and one in Dec.I will be enrolling straight after xmas. :D

    Re:PLB Exam

Everyone will get an exam registration form circa 1 March (2007). You can then register for the exams, then. You have until then to decide. So take a look at some of the unit books, and see how much you think you can handle, given the time-limits...

    Best wishes...
