Need to vent some anger

Getting a bit frustrated with PTP payroll.

No 'net to gross' option..
Won't calculate student loan deductions..
Remittance report doesn't total up NIC'ers and NIC'ees for you..
Can't do mid-year P35/P60..
P11s don't have year to date totals..

What does everyone else use?
Does your software do the above or am I expecting too much?

    Hi Dean

Sage does all you want and more, but at a price :?

    Have a look at

    www.moneysoft.co.uk

I use them for all my diddly little payrolls and no probs so far - BUT I haven't tried to do a year end.

Nice friendly company with good helpline. Only praise for them so far.

    Hi Dean

We use Superpay for our payroll and also recommend it to clients who wish to maintain their own payroll.

It is very easy to use and can produce what PTP doesn't. It is also quite cheap, and I have found the customer support helpful too.

Superpay also produces on online filing module (free) which is very easy to use, and saves a load on time with P35s.

    Hi Tom

I tried Superpay, but couldnt get on with it, as it is a dos based programme, and I kept hitting return instead of tab

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I think I will trial Moneysoft for the next couple of months and say goodbye to PTP after 5th April..

I found TAS payroll to be good. It produces the reports you require to.

Just another name for you to consider.

    Re:Payroll software

I have a demo version of Moneysoft, but seem to be having problems setting the pay period.

Eg, If work done is in week 1 and you get paid in week 2 for the work done in week 1, how would you do this. My understanding of this program is that you have got to pay staff in the week worked rather than working a week in hand.

I hope I am making sense and someone can help me with this.

    Thanks!

HMRC state that tax & NI is calculated in the tax period in which it is paid irrespective of when the work was done. Does this help?

I understand the above, but the moneysoft pogramme will not allow you to do that. The proramme calculates the tax and ni for the week that the work is done and not for the week it is paid.

I hope this makes sense, and someone can tell me if there is any way of working around this in ths programme.

    Thanks!
