Re:Smoking
Hi Paul
The craving is not an overwhelming one, but more of a - I could just go one. I have heard from quite a few people about this craving even after a number of years. I would say though, try not to use the the nicorette gum as this is also addictive in itself - I know a couple of people who have been on the gum for 4 years.
Best of luck with giving up - hang on in there it does get easier.

Re:Smoking
When I stopped I kept catching colds.
Do yourself a favour and start taking Vit C & Zinc.
After a couple of months you'll be over the worst.0 -
Re:Smoking

Re:Smoking
I stopped last year for a few months without anything - it was harder because my partner still smokes.
I went to the pub with people from work, majority smokers, I asked for one and they duly obliged, that was me - smoking again.
I tried to stop when my baby boy came along, but I ended up just cutting down and buying copious amounts of mouth wash...
Now the new job has come around, I have used it as a new start. Before the new year I said to my fiancee, look, if you want a cigarette, do me a favour and don't ask me to join you in the kitchen (back door).
So far she has kept to my request and i'm very happy so far, it's only a short time yet but i feel great. I played football last Sunday and only 8 people turned up for my team, we played 90 minutes against 11 people and conceded a goal only with literally the last kick of the game... what a difference a week makes, i'm looking forward to seeing the difference a month makes and a year!
Take each day as it comes and think of everytime you need a ciggie as a conversation with an imaginary friend -
Crave: Smoke smoke smoke - common
Me: No thank you, maybe another time
I actually think this out in my head, I may seem like a dumbass to some people but it cuts out that feeling for a few hours.
My new workplace really helps too, I want to make a good impression and not smell of smoke and PLUS it's a no smoking environment - no fag breaks are allowed and there's no designated place for smoking in or around the building! Fantastic!
Had an hour in the pub on Wednesday night, didn't have one in there, its whether i can go to a pub for longer though and still last that's btohering me - although, I was thinking on giving up alcohol for 6 months to see myself trim down again. I Have done that before.0 -
Re:Smoking
Failed again - gutted.

Re:Smoking
Hiya mate,
how are you today, have you forgiven yourself for Fridays blip and still off the fags?
I managed my first day without any ciggies yesterday, am using the plastic inhilator, bloody yukky but hey if it works and all that!
Keep trying!!

Re:Smoking
I can never seem to get straight back on it, I will have to build it back up again now!! I was so miserable friday though, all day!0 -
Re:Smoking
Why be miserable, just because some people quit cold turkey, last fag and never again an stuff doesnt mean that that is the only way!
Why not accept that on social occasions a fag will be acceptable, that way you wont beat yourself up about the odd lapse.
Dont forget, last week you had not smoked ? many compared to usual and each and every one not smoked is summat to be proud of!
Anyway, this is just a practice run till Feb! Any lapses dont count!!!!0 -
Re:Smoking
Although I don't smoke, and think that the smoking ban is a good thing, I saw this at the weekend and think it is just a step too far:

Reminds me of the person who complained about the shop next door smelling of bacon - it was a cafe, and it had to stop selling it! How daft is this world becoming.0 -
Re:Smoking
Crazy... but sadly not too surprising in this day and age.
As many of us already know and agree, apologists and all the other politically correct brigades will be the death of this country.
God, now we have the ciggy police to take away yet another of the many freedoms we used to take for granted.

Re:Smoking
I hate coming back from pubs smelling of smoke - but I don't agree with banning it from them.
I can remember when I smoked, how having a drink and ciggy was part of the night out.
If you don't like the smoke, stay out!

Re:Smoking
It does make me laugh when you get smoking or non smoking sections within one room, you need to smoke very clever ciggies for the smoke to know where the line is that it is not allowed to cross!0 -
Re:Smoking
We have a pub by us with a mezzanine. The upstairs is non smoking, but downstairs you can light up, wheres the sense in that?!0
